Chelsea's home stadium is called Stamford Bridge. Stamford Bridge opened on 28th April 1877, when the stadium was first built it was used by the london athletic club as an arena for athletic meetings. Chelsea football club started playing on the ground in 1904 because of the new owner Mr.H.Mears and his brother Mr.J.Mears. The stadium was remained unchanged until 1930 where the shed end of the stadium was created.
The shed end was the most important ground through the 60's 70's and 80's, this was the main stand for the die hard Chelsea fans.
In 1939 the north stand was built this was one of the first designs that curved around a corner to join two stands together.
In 1964/1965 the west stand was replaced with a seated stand, at this time seats were all the range.
In 1973/1974 the East stand was built and this is still one of the best stands in the country.
All the stands have now been finished all the stand looks amazing, stamford bridge has changed from a small athletic club into a circular 50,000 seater ground.
Starting from 1994 the ground got put under serious construction, all the stands got extended, colour coded, all seated and had new roofing on. This stand is now one of the greatest in the world.
