2012 Jazz Schedule

The Jazz Ensemble is a top level group for the most advanced players. All members are chosen from the Concert Band, or Orchestra. The Jazz Ensemble consists of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, piano, bass, guitar, and percussion instruments and performs at spring Jazz Festivals, community events and concerts.
The Jazz Ensemble also occasionally performs in the spring, at the "Trills & Thrills" festival at Hershey or Dorney Park.
Musical selections include Swing, Jazz, Fusion and Rock.
Membership into the Jazz Ensemble is determined by instrumentation needs and by audition. The Jazz Ensemble begins rehearsals in November and performs during the second half of the school year.

Upper Darby Educational And Cultural Arts Foundation Gala with members of DHMS Jazz Ensemble.Rehearsals with the DH Jazz Ensemble will be held:
Wed. Jan. 4, 2012 7:00 to 8:30pm (at DH)
Wed. Jan. 11, 2012 7:00 to 8:30pm (at BH)
Wed. Jan. 18, 2012 7:00 to 8:30pm (at DH)
Rehearsal at the UDPAC will be Thurs., Jan. 19th from 9:30 to 11:30am.
Transportation is by school bus.

March 23, 2012 - Bala Cynwyd MS
April 13, 2012 - Beverly Hills MS
April 20, 2012 - Drexel Hill MS (The Fourth Annual DH Jazz Fest!)
May 3, 2012 - Band and Jazz Spring Concert
May 4, 2012 - Welsh Valley MS
May 10, 2012 - "Time for Teens" Annual Banquet @ Top of the Tower in center city Philadelphia.

Congratulations to the BH Jazz Ensemble for receiving a rating of Excellent at the Welsh Valley Middle School Jazz Fest on Friday (5/6) AND to Immanuel Wilkins for earning one of two awards for the Best Overall Soloist of the festival!!
Also, our trombone section won the best Trombone Section Award for the evening!

Jazz Ensemble Performance Dress Code is : All black : Black shirt AN TIE, Black pants, black socks and black shoes. Girls may opt to wear a black dress or black skirt with a black blouse.
