What the Heak is a Bass Clarinet?

A Bass Clarinet is a much larget version of the B flat Clarinet. It can reach one octave lower than the regular clarinet. It's Fingerings are the same except for an extra key that plays the low E flat. The reeds and mouthpiece are much larger as well. The Bass Clarinet can be played with either a stand or a neakstrap. For Marching band we use neakstraps and hold the clarinet while in class we use the stand and place it on the ground instead of holding it. So basically the bass clarinet is a big grown up clarinet! :P
