Blockbusters was hosted by the fantastically funny Bob Holness, who at the end of the show would sign off with his hand in the air. However the show was complained about because it looked like the Nazi salute. The contestants would have to make their way across the 20 hexagon board by answering questions based on the letter on each hexagon. For example "What D is the common name for a canine?" The contestant on their own would take the short route from top to bottom while the two players would go from left to right (slightly longer).

Blues just need G for the game!

Many contestants thought it was hilarious (they were crazy 80's students) to say "I want a P please Bob!". This then became "I want U Bob!" - again incredibly funny. The drug addicts took a laugh from "I'd like E please Bob!"

If you made it across the board and beat your opposition in the best of three boards you could go to the gold run. This was just an enlarged version of the above board with phrases on instead of words e.g. MTOC would be Mother Theresa of Calcutta.

Winning the gold run meant a fabulous prize like encyclopedias for your school, however if you completed the gold run three times you won a holiday to somewhere like Australia or Mount Everest.

One girl answered her question orgasm instead of organism and another contestant referred to Kamikaze as Karma Sutra.

The audience would do the hand-jive to the theme music at the end of every fifth show because five shows were filmed a day and that was an end of the day treat!
