Letter sent to the Prosecuting Attorney

by Lisa Marie Tabor

Dear Mr. Gregart:

As a concerned citizen and a professional veterinarian assistant hired for the responsibility to care for dogs and cats, I filed an animal cruelty complaint against Steven Ginsberg, DVM for hitting a critically injured dog in my presence.

All of my life I have cared for dogs, both my own and other's who choose to abuse, neglect or just give up on the responsibility of taking care of them. I have volunteered my time at the Humane Society and I have rescued abused and neglected dogs. I know from common sense and experience what is right and what is wrong when caring for a dog.

I have also written to many prosecutors and judges in other areas of the United States when an animal has been abused intentionally by a human and support from individuals who care to help is needed to bring justice to these victims. I have expressed many times that I am proud to live in a community where authorities care about our animals and to the best of my knowledge would not ever tolerate such cruelty to animals.

The day I saw a dog get hit by Dr. Ginsberg I called Aaron Winters to notify him of what I had seen and how disturbing it was that it had been committed by a veterinarian.

Most cruel acts are committed by "regular" people. As you are aware a man from our community stabbed a dog last August for barking too much, and more recently we have people stealing our loved pets for the possibility of making money by selling them to research facilities. So many find it easy to accept and believe that the above are true acts committed by "people".. but these same people find it difficult believing that a veterinarian is not capable of abusing his patients. Not only is this a sad fact, it is unfair to Lucy and all the other dogs who may have been abused at the hands of this angry doctor.

Nobody but employees see what sad and disturbing acts happen behind the doors at Crestivew Animal Hospital and I have faith that my authorities will believe in myself and the many others who have witnessed such. WE do not have a medical degree and I cannot speak for other employees, however compassion was not taught to me by any degree of medicine, it was taught to me by my family and from all of the dogs I have helped in my 34 years of life.

I am insisting that on a local stand point, this investigation is taken seriously. I am also asking that Lucy, who suffered from a cruel and thoughtless act by Dr. Ginsberg not be forgotten about. She possibly opened the door to prevent other's pets from suffering needlessly.

We must also think of our children and whether teaching them to hit dogs when we get angry is acceptable. Animal abuse hurts our children and our children's futures.

Thank-You
Lisa Marie Tabor
