My “The Better Life” Review

Pros: Variety of Style, Great and Original Tunes, Addictive Album
Cons: None really

The Better Life is the debut album by 3 Doors Down and it has been a huge success. Already gone triple platinum in the Billboard 200 and is currently in the 10 top in the chart. The first single "Kryptonite" is reached number 4 in the billboard 100 and is number one on many internet charts.

Their new single "Loser" is already rising the charts and is destined for a top 10 place. The band has been hugely succesful in the USA and where I come from they havent really lifted off yet. I'm in Australia. I'm predicting 3 Doors Down to follow suite.

The reason I bought the album is because I was listening to the local station (B105FM for all the Brisbanites out there) and I heard their song "Kryptonite" and it was pretty catchy then I decided to download it on Napster. That led to downloading of more songs and I wasn't dissapointed.

Anyway to cut a long story short I bought the album. The album kicks off with Kryptonite. This song is simple but affective, a decent and original song which is easily liked. The first part of the album is more slower then the last with songs like "Loser" and "Be Like that" which are the ballad type songs. "Not Enough" and "Life On my Own" are two songs which have a similar start to the song but both have catchy tunes are addictive. Then the latter part of the album is more heavy. This does not dissapoint neither.

"Smack", "The Better Life", "Down Poison" show signs of Mettalica in them. Each song in the heavy part of the album has it's own different tune and they are one of the highlights of the album.

The bad things with the album are few. You could say the songs are a bit repetitive and the songs mimic songs by other bands a bit. But songs like "Krytonite" and "Life of My Own" are original.

No song on this album dissapoint. If you have an interest in more of the pop/slower/ballad style of music this album is a must and also for the heavier style, it combines the slow's with the fasts and the heavy with the slow into a bloody great rock album.

Definetly a must for any music lover, this album doesnt dissapoint and will have a long listening life. Watch for 3 Doors Down in the future, they have another album planned. This album has a variety of style and I give it a 5/5

Compare it to Artist's Discography: If you only buy one album, this should be the one.
