Rockin’ Pneumonia started back in 1994 when Tony Phillips (bass player, lead vocals) decided to create his own band. He wanted to perform the fun, energetic rock & roll music of the 1950’s to 1970’s, with an accent on the lush, harmony-laden vocals that few other bands would even try to do. After an exhaustive search, Tony was finally able to put the right musicians together.

John Walters had been a co-worker of Tony’s for many years. One day, when they were talking about music, John mentioned how he was working up some new tunes on the guitar. Immediately, Tony invited him to audition for the band. John’s rhythm and lead guitar parts, as well as his vocal talents, have proved to be a valuable addition to the band. John is also the one telling all the jokes between songs!

Drummer Randy Milne was found performing in a Weekend Warriors band on the same night as Tony, down at Seattle’s Pier 70. It was obvious right from the start that his dynamic percussion work and love of this music would be a perfect fit in the band lineup.

Then the band was lucky enough to find lead guitarist extraordinaire Marv Taylor! Marv is a seasoned professional, paying his dues back in the 1970’s playing his unique brand of rock guitar. He breathes new life into the current song list, as well as bringing in tunes from his extensive repertoire. And did I mention his mellow baritone voice?

All of the “boys” in the band enjoy performing the greatest hits of the pioneers of rock & roll, like Chuck Berry, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, and The Dave Clark Five. They also get a big kick out of watching their audiences dance and sing along to this music that brings back memories of the innocent and exciting times of the dawn of modern music.
