Plus One - The Promise
   By: Matt Black

Picture this: a crowded concert hall, and then the announcer announces "Please welcome PLUSONE", at that sudden instant all the girls at the concert Scream their heads off, injuring the ears of those standing next to them. You got it pictured? Let me guess your thinking "oh great another group of BackStreet Boy wannabees", right? Well in a way you are right, even though PlusOne is a group of young men like BSB and Nsync who do dance and can hit harmonies, and our around the age of 20 or so. They are much different then BackStreet, Nsync, O’town and others. The difference is in their message. They bring a Godly message to the audience through their upbeat tunes and beautiful harmonies. Members are Nate Cole, Jeremy Mhire, Jason Perry, Gabe Combs, and Nathan Walters.

They hail from all over the US and range in ages from 18-22
· Jason Perry - 18 from Madison, Indiana
· Nate Cole - 19 from Sacramento, California
· Jeremy Mhire - 20 from Springfield, Missouri
· Gabe Combs - 21 from Pittsburg, California
· Nathan Walters - 22 from Lakeland, Florida

Their debut album "The Promise" hit stores early summer last year. The album consists of:
8 Spiritual Songs:
1. Written on My Heart - Lyrics come from Jeremiah 31:33, it says "God’s covenant to us is "Written on our hearts".
2. God is in This Place - Talks about how no matter where we are, no matter the situation God is in that Place
3. The Promise - Describes how even when the world is cold and everything goes wrong, God is there holding you. He is there loving you always, cus "that’s His Promise to you and I"
4. My Life - Focuses on the eternal party and giving up your life for God by not dwelling on worldly things. Life with God is much richer
5. Soul Tattoo - A Thank you note to God for his eternal love - a love that can’t be taken away, a love that from the dawn of time was "tattooed" on our souls.
6. I will Rescue You - Tells how God will never leave us no matter what, we can lean on Him..
7. Run To You - Talks about running to God when there is no one or nowhere else to go. When the world’s problems overwhelm you, run to Him
8. Be - A song from God to us, telling us how He will always be with us. How we will always Be forever together with Him.

2 Love Songs:
1. Last Flight Out - A very romantic song about how a guy would do anything for the girl he loves even if it meant taking the red eye flight, or last flight out.
2. Here in My Heart - Describes how even if the distance between them is great and many miles, nothing will ever change how he feels, cus he see a picture of them together forever.

2 Friendship Songs:
1. When Your Sprit Gets Too Weak - talks about how whenever your feeling down, someone will be there to help you up, like you helped them.
2. My Friend - A song about friendship and how when the time comes for going different paths, the friendship will remain the same with the love of the two friends
Which equals 12 songs of awesome tunes and great harmonies.

Their first single, "Written on My Heart" went straight to Number 1. Their second single, "God is in this place" went all the way to #1. Those 2 songs in a recent poll of the best 20 songs in the year 2000 done by 20 the Countdown Magazine (http://www.20countdown.com/) were at #2 - "Written on My Heart" and #10 "God Is In This Place." Their love song, "Last Flight Out" is played on secular stations and their "LFO" video is played on MTV. They have 2 songs on 2 soundtracks. The Left Behind - "I Need A Miracle" and on the Pokemon 2000 - "With All Your Heart".

They also have a video out entitled, "PlusOne Home Video" which shows footage of their busy year and interviews and never before seen footage. It also includes two full length music videos, "Written on My Heart" and "God is in This Place." And rumor has it they are in the process of making a new one.

Their mission is to bring God into the hearts of the young people through their catchy lyrics and with music that attracts a variety of listeners. If you get a chance to catch them in concert, don’t miss it. Watch them as they dassle you with their choreography and speak to your hearts through the beautiful message of their songs. And remember, even when the girls scream and hurt your ears, that the group onstage is talking to you.

VERDICT: A very energetic and pop album which lyrics talk about a love in Christ and are from Christ to us or from us to Him or about Him. ‘

GRADE: A
