FREE SAM GOODY SHOW NOVEMBER 11TH:
(reported by Jeff Maker II)
Before I even begin telling everyone the details about tHrOnE's FREE Sam Goody show, I just have to say...it was UNBELIEVABLE!!! We put this free show together to say thanks to the fans for all their support and also to promote tHrOnE's December 8th Webster Theatre show. The stage was set up in the back of the store and everything was already completely setup. There was a line of excited fans waiting to get into the fenced off concert area so that they could get their spot up close to the stage. When "team tHrOnE" arrived to set up the merchandise table, the store employees took the fencing away and the awaiting fans poured in. Nick "the crowd control guy" Palazzo went on stage to make sure no one went passed the stage barriers. While big Nick was on stage he had his arms folded, looking all serious and all of a sudden a few cool fans put their chilla-chillas in his arms! The funny thing was, he never moved or smiled! So here was this big, mean looking guy on stage with two cute, little chilla-chillas in his arms. I wish I took a picture of that.
The room began to completely fill up with tHrOnE fans. It got so full that fans started to pour out into the main store area. There were fans painted and even tattooed...YES tattooed with tHrOnE on them. Suddenly I got a call on my cell phone telling me that tHrOnE just arrived in the back. I signaled Nick to leave the stage to follow me to the back room of the store. This was Dan "the guitar tech" Petrulis' cue to make his way to the crowd and clear an isle for tHrOnE's entrance. He then made his way onstage to tune Justin's guitar and Derek's bass. The time was now 7:20 and all of the lights in the back of the store went out. What was left was neon lighting that created a concert feeling. So basically we turned Sam Goody into a concert venue! A fan screams "THERE THEY ARE!!" and everyone turned their head to see tHrOnE walking toward the crowded room. The entire store erupted in a deafening cheer for the guys. Big Nick was in front leading the boys to the stage, but wait, who was that with tHrOnE? It was "Cousin" Chris from Radio 104!! Chris gets on stage and announces tHrOnE. Casey gets behind his drums, Derek straps on his bass, and Justin straps on his guitar and with one strum of Derek's bass BLACKEYE rings throughout the store and the crowd come unhinged...then "Getting Old." Derek starts talking, thanking the fans for coming out to see them and talks about a wet bird who spoke on the phone aaaand the bird gets electrocuted, "Everyone's Grudge," "Pages," "Winter," but hang on a second, I thought Steve "The Brown Monkey Roadie" Amaro was supposed to be in Baltimore...miracles CAN happen cause out of nowhere Steve arrives at the show spending $100 on a plane ticket just so that he could be there for the guys! The crowd eats it up and the set continues with "Chewy's Moshpit," "Reading Rainbow," "So Jealous," and then the new one that everyone is talking about..."New Army." "With it" and then that ever so familiar finale "OVERTHROWN."
The fans loved the show and the guys loved the fans reaction to it. When the set was done the guys went over to the merchandise table and sat down for the autograph signing. They talked to fans about many things as well as plugging Webster tickets sales. They signed autographs from 8:00 P.M. until 9:30 P.M. which was right up until the store was closing. This show was one of the best tHrOnE concerts that I have EVER experienced...and it was FREE!! We would like to thank the Sam Goody management, staff, Carlo for doing the sound, "Cousin" Chris and Kelly for coming down to see the guys play, and of course all of the rowdy fans for being extremely awesome and full of energy!
