EQUATOR CONCERT NOVEMBER 4TH:
(reported by Kristen Sadowski)
What seemed like a rather chilly night turned out to
be a fiery, energized, and outrageous
night with none other than those cool garbage pail boys of tHrOnE. The
scene was set with much waited anticipation for the
guys to take the stage and blow the roof off of
the Equator with killer rhythms and hard-core sound. It
was a concert like no other and a rather special one
for the guys, as a record label representative sat in the shadows
recording their set for the record company he works for to listen to. It's coming...I can feel it.
The last band finishes up their set and then Dan,
the technician and Steve, the roadie, take charge, fly onto the stage prepping the equipment,
and setting up. Meanwhile the crowd suddenly filters around
the open floor and the chitter-chatter begins.
"Are
you ready to rock?" There was a definite YES from the
looks upon everyone's face as deRek suddenly plucked a
string on his bass and J-town followed with a
chord...the excitement was uncontainable, slowly
reaching its maximum. BOOM! CES crashes thunderously
on his drums and the band started their wild and
kick ass set with "Blackeye", jamming smoothly
into "Winter", "Pages", "Getting Old", "Everyone's Grudge", "So Jealous",...ahhh but alas, the much
awaited "La Bamba" or "Reading Rainbow"- but wait! It
was neither of these, but a rather peppy alternative
version of that ooh so teen-idolized heartthrob show
"Saved By the Bell." A shocker to the fans?
Definitely! But did that stop them from all of their craziness? I don't think so.
This show completely knocked the socks off of everyone
there, including my own which have yet to be returned.
The stellar lights flickering everywhere creating an
illuministic and rather charged up vibe totally
brought the music, the band, and the crowd together
for an awesome performance. Their "New
Army" song blended in so smoothly with all their other
songs and it's a definite thing that we want more
tHrOnE- give us what the people want- and it's tHrOnE!
And who can forget those ever so famous and stylistic
songs "With It" and "Overthrown"- now that's the stuff.
If you liked the Equator show, come check out
their first ever in-store performance at Sam Goody
Sat. Nov.11th @7pm. Get ready to rock. The future
begins here with tHrOnE! Ohh, tell grandma and grandpa
they might want to stay home, or they could do like
that sweet lady did in torrington and jam on like
we've never seen before! "This is nothing more than a wake up
call," and it's one that's going to rOcK the music
world in a totally up scale, fantastic ride.
