CITY LIMITS SEPTEMBER 30TH:
(reported by Kristen Sadowski)
When I first walked into the City Limits in Waterbury, CT the blackness was illuminated with fluorescent lights filtering an anything is possible sensation. Cause after all it's the City Limits, one of the most amazing, zany places to chill with pool tables and plenty of refreshments available. Now picture this...as the technical team was doing sound checks and putting together all the equipment, your mind and eyes wander throughout the venue..."how cool is this?!"...definitely cool. The drummer, who all of you crazy chillas better know as Casey (ces), prepared his booming drums while Derek and Justin's guitar tech tuned their guitars for their sound check. Everything looked ready, or so the eager fans thought. But wait a second...what was that funky bright colored object sitting upon one of the amps? Could it be? A chilla-chilla? Did they remember? Ahhhh, better than that...it was a HUGE multicolored, soft pillow fish!
A sudden "are you ready to rock?" question loomed over everyone's head as Derek "our mission tonight is" Trafton, Justin "I'll never buy a computer" Millar, and Casey "I'm not wearing the shiny shirt" Trafton took the stage and suddenly the fans went wild!!! "WOOHOOO!!! tHrOnE ruLeS!!!!" "WE LOVE YOU tHrOnE!!!" screamed hyper-intensified fans....and with a quick glance around the venue, Derek began with the introduction and thanked everyone for coming out. With a quick strum of the strings off his guitar, Justin led the crew with "Getting Old" and BAM!!! The strobe lights exploded throughout the stage and everyone began bobbing their heads and pumping their fists in unison to the amazing beat and sound. Once they finished with "Getting Old" and "Blackeye" Derek then asked the fans what song they wanted to hear next, and of course EVERYONE was shouting "OVERTHROWN!!!" But it was as if the guys figured, "ehh...nah that's ok well just play 'So Jealous'"
And what would a tHrOnE concert be without Derek's funky YMCA glasses? So of course he put those snazzy things on his face and the guys continued to rock on with "Everyone's Grudge." The sweet thing that got all the girlies "awww-ing" was when Derek asked for more water and Justin was kind enough to give him his. The climax and conclusion of the show built up and everyone knew what was coming next...OVERTHROWN!!!!!
After they were finished they thanked the energized crowd for coming out and told them they'd be over at their merchandise table ready to rock, sign stuff, and just chat it up with the fans. Everyone made a mad dash over to the table in anticipation for the phatty bangin band!
With strong leaping jumps from Derek and Justin dashed over there to greet their awaiting fans. Conversations started and people just chilled playing pool, mixing in with the guys, buying merchandise, and taking pictures. It was a totally comfortable setting. The guys were as always, more than happy to mingle and talk to their fans. You guys rock! An added surprise was when Cousin Chris from Radio 104 made his way to the guys and handed them the brand new issue of Virtually Alternative Magazine. Which had the article everyone's been waiting to see.
tHrOnE kicked alternative booty once again and amazed everyone...crowd pleasers? Definitely and are they all about their fans? Totally. Everyone was just having such a great time and basically anything went. Fans were just all revved up to talk to the guys and the guys were just as excited to talk to their fans. Another successful and energetic, unforgettable show by tHrOnE. Way to go guys! You rOcK! Keep it up!!! I can't wait for the next show at the Equator!
