OCARA was chartered by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) in September, 1992.
Charter members included ten licensed operators and one indvidual with an interest in amateur radio.
The local repeater, KB9MZZ, at 146.985 - MHz, is operated and maintained by the
association. It was, however, first designed and assembled by a small group of amateur
operators in late 1994, before the association was formed.
OCARA other activities include FCC License examinations (*), an annual Hamfest, Field Day, and communications
for the annual Apple Butter Festival Parade.
