OCARA History

OCARA was chartered by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) in September, 1992. Charter members included ten licensed operators and one indvidual with an interest in amateur radio.
The local repeater, KB9MZZ, at 146.985 - MHz, is operated and maintained by the association. It was, however, first designed and assembled by a small group of amateur operators in late 1994, before the association was formed.
OCARA other activities include FCC License examinations (*), an annual Hamfest, Field Day, and communications for the annual Apple Butter Festival Parade.
(* in 2000, to be on March 20, May 15, and November 20 at the Spencer Christian Church, 157 S. Montgomery Street; corner of Market and Montgomery Street, Spencer, Indiana and on September 9, 2000, at our Hamfest at the Fairgrounds.)
If you are interested in amateur radio, please plan to join us. We meet the 3rd Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the Spencer Christian Church.
