The Year 2000

What a year 2000 was for Hello Dave and Nadas fans. With both bands releasing new albums, fans got plenty of new tunes to add to their collections. In a year were pop trends declined yet still remained powerful, Hello Dave and the Nadas music still reached a wide variety of fans, as both bands became increasing popular throughout 2000. We saw a tour featuring both bands, two new albums, live shows, unreleased tracks, newly recorded tracks, new web sites, and plenty of high points in the year 2000. Here is my review of the year 2000 for Hello Dave and The Nadas, as well as a preview of what is to come in 2001.

So the year started off with the Fresh Tracks 2000 tour featuring Domestic Problems, Hello Dave, and The Nadas. The tour was a smash, and a 2001 tour with even more dates is at the top of the "wants list" for 2001. But what jacked up Nadas fans was the release of "Coming Home", a 15 track album with new material. Fans immediately fell in love with the album and passed it around to their friends. The Nadas hit home with this album, gaining more and more fans, and those loyal to The Nadas became even bigger Nadas fanatics. I can't pick a favorite album of all time, but "Coming Home" would be right there with anything else. I can't give out an album of the year award, it's a tie between "Coming Home" and Hello Dave's "Wicked Revelry", which Hello dave released in July, a live album they recorded earlier in 2000. "Wicked Revelry" became an instant favorite with anyone. Even those who had never heard Hello Dave like them the from the opening song to the end of "Wicked Revelry". Co-Op records in Cedar Falls, Iowa, could not keep either album in stock because they sold out right when they arrived, Peeple's Music in Ames sold dozens and dozens a week. These albums have huge market ability, and fans recognized that from the start. So with the album of a year award already given to two albums, here is the web master's awards for 2000:

2000 was quite a year for the fans of The Nadas and Hello Dave... and it helped predict what isl come. Both these bands have come a long way and are looking for those record contracts and major radio rotation in the year 2001. It's not just Chicago and Ames anymore for these bands... It's Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas, Lousiana, Georgia, Colorado and other states where these bands have left their mark. Soon people across the country, in every city will be talking about The Nadas and Hello Dave. I think 2001 will be a very successful year for these bands... the new release of Hello Dave's single featuring "Sweetness" & "Golden" is very promising, and The Nadas plan to re-release "Coming Home" in a new remix version for record companies and radio stations.

What has happened to the recording industry is unfortunate. You don't need to be a musician any more to have recognition in the industry. All that you need is an image and you have it made- We fans of real music yearn for the day when bands who write their own music and perform well live get the attention they deserve. I feel when this pop music trend leaves, we will see Hello Dave and The Nadas along with bands like the Pat McGee Band (who have already begun to help change the industry), Guster, and The Samples rise to the top... There are few who make the music we love and still have mainstream acceptance; Ben Harper, Counting Crows, and Dave Matthews Band. But bands that work as hard as The Nadas and Hello Dave will have their due- their time will come.

So realize that what we have hear in the midwest is the best "music" played anywhere. The Nadas and Hello Dave sound so good live, and you can see them for a affordable price. These bands write their music and it's energetic, fun, entertaining, emotional, and personal. It's normal guys not worrying about thier make-up for their next video and if they loaded on too much or too little hair spray. These two bands are all about thier music, and their fans. They deserve every bit of support and attention they receive plus much more... and mark my word, both these bands will have huge success again in 2001.

But frankly, these bands could never release another track, play another show, and yet their legacy would still remain strong with their fans. Their music will live throughout the fans they have reached the past 5-6 years... People will always talk about the first time they saw The Nadas or Hello Dave live, their favorite song, and what memories they have associated with the music. For those of us who appreciate what these bands do, Hello Dave and The Nadas have already become legends.

Happy New Year and I hope you get the chance to see and hear both bands as much as possible. ENJOY!
