Band History

In 1998, John Reed and Kyle Johnson got the grand idea to start a band, both had only picked up a guitar a few times, but had the determination, and the love of music to continue the idea. John and Kyle spent many days recording their prepubescent voices and their intruments on a small kareoke machine (through which John decided to play rhythm guitar and Kyle played lead guitar). This went on for a few months until they recruited Matt Willhite to play drums, Matt, who had been playing for two years prior to the request, loved the idea. So it was then decided to find a bass player...Matt Frick, who contributed absolutely nothing to the band. But they kept him alive only because he was
the only bass player where they lived. So within six months he was out of the band. They then recruited Zelan Buckelew, a long time friend of Johns and an intense bass player to take Matt Frick's place. The only problem with Zelan and to this day is the fact that he lives three hours away from them. After Zelan got down what few songs they had written, they were a band. And in the summer of 1999 they played their first gig in the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce Talent Show (the wine tent). It was a contest which they lost, lost to a stupid little bitch named Kristina Oster (no hard feelings), but they kept going and in a few months they played again at a Star Bucks one town over. After that in March of 2,000 they played at the Sandy High School "Battle of the Bands" which ended up not being a "battle" at all considering only two other bands showed up. That summer they tried their luck again at the Sandy Mountain Festival and lost again to that little bitch. But they bit their lips and put on a kick ass show at the "Arts and Music Festival" in Meining Park September 16, 2000. One July 14, 2001 the band dominated the Talent show and took the overall prize of a Thousand dollar savings bond. Cash would have been nice, but that would have to do. Idle Class currently resides in Sandy, Oregon and have finished recording an album on their self produced label-Cherry X Records.
