What is a Fishippy?
IT ALL BEGAN IN THE LATE 1980'S DURING THE 2OTH ANNIVERSARY WOODSTOCK REVIVAL.
"WOODSTOCK" THE MOVIE WAS PLAYING ENDLESSLY ON CABLE TELEVISION AND THE NEWSPAPERS WERE FULL OF "REMEMBER WHEN" ARTICLES ABOUT THE WOODSTOCK NATION.
A discussion ensued during said movie. "Gimme an F!" And it was decided that "the Fish" was the greatest band name ever.
It was further determined that "the Fish" had to be hard-core hippies from San Francisco. Thus the equation...
Fish + Hippies = Fishippies
The first group dubbed "Fishippy" was a metal cover band. Rehearsing on the patios of Omaha in the early 1990's. Destiny was not on this group's side.
Nearly ten years later the name would be resurrected. "Eric and the Fishippies" debuted as an acoustic 60's cover band in 1999. Performing at the Dubliner Pub in Omaha.
The group was a vital part of the Omaha acoustic music scene. The "Final" show was in July of 2003 at Sean O'Casey's.
Now the Fishippies re-unite twice a year to recreate the sounds they loved. It's like one big musical family reunion. And you're all invited to attend!
