WEATHER IS HERE; WISH YOU WERE BEAUTIFUL!
Our first two days have been excellent! The band had a wonderful day at SeaWorld yesterday. The weather was perfect and a good time was had by all.
Today was competition day. Everything ran pretty much on schedule. Each band performed back-to-back. The hard work of all the chaperones and the kids helped keep everything on schedule. The performances of the Concert, Symphonic and Jazz bands and the leadership of Mr. Chipman were simply outstanding! The results?:
After the competition, the band went to the Riverwalk Mall in downtown San Antonio for a few hours of shopping and touring this beautiful and unique area of the city. After returning to the hotel, the students had plenty of time for leisure, swimming, and dinner at area restaurants. We stopped by the grocery store and let the kids get groceries so they could fix food in their rooms. By the way, the rooms are great! They have full kitchens and several of the kids have prepared everything from chili to buffalo wings.
The kids are in the process of turning in for the night. Tomorrow is a big day at Six Flags Fiesta. The weather is expected to remain beautiful all day and we are all anxious to celebrate the fine performances of today. You should be very, proud of each of your children in this band. They did a great job.
Here are a few pictures of the trip so far:
The trophies were a surprise brought to pool-side for the kids that were there. Here are some of the kids on hand for the announcement.
