Amanda was born on February 22, 1984, the first born child to proud parents Dan and Joyce. Even Amanda's first years were filled with music. "Everytime she heard music, whether it was the radio or a commercial, Amanda would come crawling out to listen." says her mother "mum" Joyce. Music was the one thing that could calm her down. Amanda began to entertain family and neighbors by singing on top of the picnic table at age two. Soon neighbors began suggesting to Dan and Joyce that Amanda should get into the music buisness. "We had no idea Amanda had musical talent. We thought all children sang the way she sang." says her parents. Unlike a lot of musicians, Amanda comes from a mostly non-musical family. Her family often jokes that "they got the wrong kid at the hospital." Amanda took her first lessons at age six, and later performed for the first time on a stage at the Anoka County Fair in Minnesota. By age eight she was already taking privite lessons and performing the National Anthem for events such as The Minnesota Timberwolves. "I knew from the time I was very little that music would be my life." says Amanda. Music soon began to occupy all her free time. "My parents would have to tell me to be quiet at times. I would drive them crazy by singing in the car." She first got training in musical theatre, then classical. At age 11, she had an opportunity to sing with The Minnesota Opera in a very popular opera, La Boheme. "Singing with The Minnesota Opera was one of the best experiences in my life." During her younger years Amanda also participated in her local theatre, where she played roles such as Sleeping Beauty. During the spring of 1998 Amanda added a new style of singing; as well as keeping up with her classical training, she began singing country. In July of 1998, Amanda was asked to record three songs down in Nashville, Tennessee. "To say I was excited is a huge understatement. I was so happy, I cried." On October 16, 1998, Amanda recorded her first cd, Who Are You. "I got to record with all these awesome musicians, in the same studio that one of my absolute favorite artists, Bryan White, recorded his first album. It was awesome. From the minute I stepped in the studio, I was in heaven." In September of 1999, Amanda moved into her new house in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is currently studying at The Las Vegas Academy for Performing Arts. She is planning to return to Nashville to rerecord her song "Who Are You" in late August, 2000.
