Well, this was the first time I saw System in concert and I can't wait to see them again. It was on the Billionaire Pirates Tour and the headliner was Limp Bizkit, but I went mostly for System.

Me and my friend Shawn were one of the first people to get there and we waited outside for about four hours if I remember right. After about an hour, the local radio station, WJRR, got there and started setting up. We met some people we knew while we watched them set up and when it was close to the time for the doors to open, the radio station started drawing names for free [Limp Bizkit] Significant Other CD's. I won one, but I gave it to my friend cuz I already had it and he didn't.

We were desperate. We didn't have floor tickets. We met this woman in line who had floor tickets, but she didn't want to be on the floor. Our seat tickets weren't very good though, and she ended up trading the tickets with some friends of ours.

When we got inside, I bought a SOAD t-shirt and met some more people I knew. Also, I should mention there were hot chicks EVERYWHERE. We went around like idiots begging everyone for floor tickets, but didn't get any. Well, I said, we're just gonna have to jump. Now, I had already jumped in other concerts, but this was different. The height was like ten feet to the floor, but there was no way I was gonna sit.

Then System started. Their set was awesome. On the background they had padded walls; Daron and Shavo came out in wheelchairs, and they were rotating in circles while they played at the beginning. Serj was wearing this cool black robe with a yin-yang sign on the back and his face painted. They opened with Know and during the first minute of the song, I was looking at the guards down there, looking for a window of opportunity. Then, it came. There were guards on both sides of me on the floor, but they were looking the other way and I jumped about 10 feet down and about 10 feet of space between me and each guard. And there was still about 10 more feet to the little wall that separates the guards and the floor. I ran like hell without looking back, jumped the wall, and kept running to the middle of the floor. When I got there, they were still playing Know. Whew. My friend didn't get to the floor until Limp Bizkit started.

System of a Down is one of the coolest bands I have seen in concert because they are so different. They are totally crazy. If I remember right, these are the songs they played, in no particular order:

  • Know
  • Sugar
  • D-Devil
  • Peep-Hole
  • Spiders
  • Suggestions
  • Suitpee
  • War?
  • Darts

I can't remember if they played any more songs. One thing that sucked was that it didn't look like the crowd was getting much into it. I guess there weren't many people who knew System of a Down.

After System, came Method Man and Redman. They were really boring and I was falling asleep. Then came Limp Bizkit and they rocked the house.
