If
you havent heard of Cage before, its about time you give him a listen.
This recovering mental patient has released his second LP album, Movies
for the Blind. His name may sound familair, because of his past beef
with Eminem where they shared a diss or
two back and through.
If
you're an Eminem fan, in the second track on the CD, titled "Escape
To 88" Cage samples the voice from the Ken Keniff skit saying "Who
is this? Cage?" Also in this track, there a few disses. The first
one is directed towards MTV. "Too bad no planes flew into Mtv,
I'll never get a platinium plaque for mp3s." Because Cage's style
is so different, its not what you'll hear on MTV or BET. The second
diss is for Insane Clown Posse
and Twiztid (Also known for having a beef
with Eminem.) He says "I'm twiztid, but not like faggots that suck
fame, this clowns insane." Towards the end of the album, even Cage
is talking about Osama Bin Laden. "Fuck the Tali Ban, from Valley's
End."
One
of the better songs on the CD is track five, "Too Much" has
a faster beat, with medium paced raps. The chorus, "Yo Chris, I
think they think you know too much. Yeah, Sis, I think you put coke
up ya knows too much." flows perfectly into the song. This song
also has references to Jack Black, and his movie Shallow Hal and Orange
County. There's also more disses in this song. "I scribble my shit
on paper, pay rent, and look at Nature. See him and Nas before lunch,
them bitches are rapers."
"In
Stoney Lodge" Cage raps about being in a mental institute. This
song is one of the funnier ones on the CD. It sounds somewhat like Eminem's
style. Not the way he raps, but what he raps about. "And when a
'tere comes in the room like, whats the matter? I'm eating the brownies
mom made, and smackin her with the platter."
The classic tune almost all underground hip hop heads have heard "Agent
Orange" is also featured on this CD. This song is an older release,
and it has not been remastered. It is the original version. The chorus
is from the movie Clockwork Orange with great scratching on the turntables.
The song was produced by Necro.
The
next song, "Suicidal Failure" is a song about un-succesfully
commited suicide. As usual, Cage has original rhymes that you havent
heard anywhere before. "Cut my wrist and walk past some Crips,
bleeding red in hopes that I get shot in the fuckin head."
"Unlike
Tower" features another underground rapper, Copywrite. This song
has a few references about being an underground rapper. "You wanna
shoot a video? Bring a pistol to Blockbuster" refering to all the
mainstream rappers making music videos to show off. "Im so underground,
I should seak production in China."
The
last song on the CD "Pussy, Money, And War" also features
Copywrite. This song has a good beat, with good flows. There is a small
diss to Eminem in this song "Used to pistol whip, but Shady made
a book. Pussy." Overall, this CD is well worth getting. Like I
said before, Cage's style is not like any other rapper you've heard
before. A very original artist and lyricist. If you're interested in
