Marc Anthony, Aaron Carter & More To Perform At Lupus 2001
(5/4/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- Marc Anthony, Lionel Richie, Aaron Carter, Backstreet
Boys (news - web sites) Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, and Nick Carter; Jon
Secada, Deborah Gibson, Carole King, country singer John Sines Jr., Barry
Williams (Brady Bunch), Pollyanna Dorough (Howie's sister), and Chelsea
Herring (Howie's niece) are among the artists confirmed to perform at Lupus
2001, a charity fundraiser to benefit the Dorough Lupus Foundation,
according to a spokesperson for the organization.
The concert will be held on June 1 at the Hard Rock Live at Universal
Studio's CityWalk in Orlando, Florida. The following day (June 2), a dinner,
silent auction, a private show with Shamu the killer whale, and private live
concert with Howie Dorough and his band will take place at nearby Sea World.
The auction will include items donated by celebrities, recording stars,
athletes, and fashion designers.
Artists invited to perform at Lupus 2001 who were still unconfirmed as of
press time include country star Martina McBride, Creed, Tyrese, R. Kelly,
"Weird Al" Yankovic, and comedian Jeff Foxworthy, among others.
The Dorough Lupus Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Howie
Dorough and his family shortly after his sister died of the disease in 1998.
The foundation raises money for Lupus research, education, and financial
assistance for individuals living with Lupus who cannot afford treatment.
Tickets for the June 1 concert are $175 and tickets for the June 2 dinner
and auction are $150. If you wish to attend both events, combination tickets
are discounted to $300. Tickets for Lupus 2001 will be made available online
through Ticketmaster.
