Ai Yue ( Love for music ) is our name. Founded in May 2000, the Silicon Valley Ai-Yue Chorus ( SVAY ) is a nonprofit music society with emphasis on choral singing. Our members are professionals from the Silicon Valley area with Chinese ethnic background. We celebrate our ethnicity and culture through singing and fellowship; we engage in community services by supporting communal musical activities, and by promoting interests in Sino-American cultural integration. Care for members is our precept, industry our attribute, and quality our maxim.

Mr. Bainian Tan is our music director and conductor. Formerly a renowned tenor and vocal educator from the Shanghai Philharmonic Society, Mr. Tan is currently an acclaimed vocalist, artistic director and conductor in the San Francisco Bay area.

Fourteen of our members and our artistic director initiated SVAY’s first chapter in the summer of 2000. From a group with only one alto then, we have now become a choral society with 38 well trained voices, and are growing. SVAY’s two-year young life has been both enriching and enriched. Our annual concerts " The Voices of SVAY ", our performances to support various local community cultural events, our Christmas musicales for the needy in seniors centers, our classical music and vocal forums and social events, our assistance to co-produce the concerts in the Silicon Valley by world renowned pianist Fou Ts'ong, by the 2000 Chopin Laureate Li Yundi, by the Chinese violin icon Yu Lina, and by The China Philharmonic Orchestra and pianist Sa Chen, known as the "Chinese Martha Argerich" , ... All of these are remarkable milestones on our journey to fulfill our purposes. Through thick and thin, SVAY grows, thrives and continues to write its brilliant new chapters.
