The United Pentecostal Church in Kawayan is a local church under the UPC Philippines Inc. It is situated along the circumferencial road of Biliran Province in the Northern part of the island. The church was established in 1980, with Rev. Samuel Patagnan, Sr. as the first pastor. Membership increased tremendously during the pastorship of Pastor Pablo Rosas. Healings and miracles happened in the lives of people in all ages contributing to the increase of converts. Men with "anting-anting" surendered their amulets and believed the Lord Jesus and made Him Lord of their lives. Pastors Violeta Rosas, Peter Rosas and Roger Jamin had pastored the Church. Today, the church is pastored by Pastor Pablo Rosas, with Pastor Peter as his assistant.

UPC Kawayan sees itself as an ever thriving church. It takes its vision from the characteristics of the Kawayan grass, the tallest grass in the world. This grass has a fabulous survival characteristics. It thrives even in harsh environment and in unfertile soil. One may cut a piece of bamboo and throws it away, but if it touches the ground, you have the assurance that it will grow. Thus is the vision of the church.
