President's Message
Dear TDC Members,
First, I would like to thank all of you who attended the General Meeting on August 24th. Special thanks also to the Boice family who generously opened their home (and grill) to TDC. The used tack sale was a huge success and many thanks go to Leanne Ragel for its organization.
At the General Meeting we voted to approve the proposed changes to the By-Laws. TDC will now offer a newsletter-only membership for $25 per year. There are no voting, awards, or USDF privileges associated with this membership. In addition, we changed the wording of the "Family Membership" to reflect our current policy. The "Associate Membership" category was deleted as this is not a category offered by USDF. The members also voted to amend the By-Laws concerning check writing. Checks in the amount of $1000 or more are required to have the signature of the Treasurer and at least one other Board Member. Amounts less than that only require the Treasurer's signature.
A few changes have also taken place on the TDC Board of which you should be aware. Due to personal reasons, Holly Small has stepped down as Vice President effective immediately. I have appointed Shelley Rosenberg to fill the remainder of her term. Many thanks to Holly for the time she dedicated to the club. Karen Dotson will fill the Board Member position left vacant by Shelley. I'd like to welcome Karen and thank her for stepping in mid-term to help the club.
Once again, there are many upcoming events sponsored or recognized by TDC in which we hope the membership will participate. The final schooling show of the awards year will be held at La Mariposa on September 22nd. If you need a couple more scores to be eligible for awards, this is your last chance. In addition, the final TDC Dressage University of the 2002 academic year will take place September 14th at Aim High. Laura Paddock is the guest instructor and will be teaching about suppling exercises.
TDC is anticipating a great turnout for the first three sessions of the Learner Judges program beginning in October. Auditors are welcome and highly encouraged to attend. In fact, anyone who attends the L Sessions will receive up to two TDC Dressage University credits towards their 2003 graduation. We will also need demonstration riders in Training through Second Level for each L session. If you are interested in being a demo rider, please contact Lynn Boice at 298-2363.
