On August 25th Willow Woods was the site for the third-quarter TDC General Meeting, barbeque, and tack swap meet.

Leanne Ragel, organizer of the tack swap meet, said there were seven paid sellers. By the looks of all the merchandise, we could have opened a tack store. There were a host of jumping and dressage saddles; horse clothing; riding clothing; horsie videos and books. Some shoppers cut in and out of the general meeting to check out the goods. The General Meeting lasted forever; I can't wait to see
those minutes. By the time it was over, it was dark out!  Leanne assures me that we will do the swap meet again.  Good, because all this stuff doesn't fit back from where I took it.

The head barbeque chef was our host, Henry Boice. He did an excellent  job cooking hotdogs and hamburgers for about sixty TDC members and their guests. The deserts were wonderful, especially Eileen Swiers' chocolate chip cookies.  Ask Michelle Manshardt and Christy Legner how good they were. I heard the following day that their horses

said, "Been hitting the chocolate again, haven't you? You carry ME today."
While the adults ate and yacked, the older children played leap-over- Josh Coleman! I told Rachel Tanenbaum that I would remain newsletter editor indefinitely if I could "borrow" her little one. I made a little progress pursuading Dad; Rachel wouldn't budge. I never have been good at negotiating.

That morning Willow Woods was host to the TDC Dressage University cavalletti clinic taught by Jennifer Parker. It was way fun!! Too bad I need Dramamine when the poles are higher than 6" above the ground. On Sunday some members were attending the Cochise D&CT Schooling Show. So between tired people and show people, the party ended around 9:30 p.m.

The next major get together for TDC members and their guests is our 2001 Yearend Awards Banquet on Friday, October 12th. Please join us at the Sheraton Hotel for the Silent Auction, yearend awards, and dinner.
