BARN NEWS

Canada, but it also  became a top address for clinics in dressage as well as jumping.

The first show season sporting the St. Georg colors wasn't bad, either. Big boy Marlo finally adjusted to the climate transition, and Guy got in the groove sitting his impressive movements. They became true partners and a true unit. After a couple of blue ribbons with high scores at schooling shows, they earned a well-deserved first place at the Flagstaff Fall Festival. Over the past month, our "baby," four-year-old Elaine of Eden, proved her quality as a future dressage horse by earning a bundle of ribbons, most of them blue. In Flag she won three tests and placed second in the fourth. Not bad for the young lady from Bavaria!

Elisa Cipriano, who recently purchased a nice six-year-old Dutch gelding (official Coonawara, but called Woddy) started her career in our barn as a novice dressage rider after being a former hunter/jumper rider. Her first appearance at a schooling show in Hereford brought her not only two blue ribbons, but also a compliment from the judge for bravery. Woddy, inexperienced himself to a show arena, saw in the background the cattle that the show facility used for team penning. Woddy said, "WHOA, rodeo time!!!" Elisa kept a cool head and with her proper seat, she maneuvered the horse with bravura through the test--and won. We will definitely see more of that pair in the future.

St. Georg was honored in

August to have Allyson Armstrong, with her charming Thoroughbred Cooper, join our facility. Cooper, a real symbol of survival for everyone who knows his amazing story of recovery after horrible injuries and life-threatening illness, became "Super Cooper" when Allyson piloted him through Intro 1 and 2 with scores of 76 and 77. They are both ready to roll in training level in a new show season.

Andrea Hausner and her first horse Shakkar are eager to show off their accomplishments. Shakkar, only a few months ago a successful race horse, does very well learning the basics of dressage. Andrea, who came to our barn to learn trail riding, found herself all of a sudden in breeches and high boots. I just couldn't see her talent wasted. She is definitely a natural, and with that gift she had to become a dressage rider, period! Before she fully realized the consequences, Andrea was a proud horse owner.

None of us at St. Georg are high-level "hot shots," but our little show group with team spirit is very humbled. We have a lot of fun with our horses. We are looking forward to a new show season with our goal marks set a nudge higher. Every ribbon earned will be honored, regardless of color, because our partner horse and we worked hard for it. After all, we know how fortunate we are to be able to celebrate the wonderful sport of dressage. We all have one priority: Have fun and enjoy your horse every given day.
