BARN NEWS

Misty Mountain Arabian Sporthorses

The International Sporthorse Registry/Oldenburg Registry North America held its first ever Tucson keuring (inspection) at Fable Arabians on September 29, 2001. Ekkehard Brysch, CEO of the ISR/OLNA, one of two inspectors who tour the entire United States each year for the ISR/OLNA, was the inspector here as well as at the Phoenix keuring the next day. There were 11 mares and 7 foals presented. All were quite lovely horses. All of the mares were accepted into one of the four mare books and all the foals were fully registered and branded. Six of the foals were registered and branded Oldenburg, a part-QH Palomino foal was registered and branded ISR. The high scoring mare was a 3 year old

Oldenburg mare, Inshallica (Ideal x Fancy Chime [Arab]), owned and shown by Adele Tenney. She scored 103 points and was accepted to the Main Mare Book. But that wasn't all -- the inspector was so impressed with her that he requested that she be re-presented in a year or two when she is more mature because "I think she has a very good chance to be accepted into the Premium Mare Book." On average only 30 mares are taken into the Premium Mare Book each year. Three stallions sired the foals that were presented. Marion Munsinger's ISR/Oldenburg approved Hanoverian stallion Dominick was represented by 4 foals, including the lovely Palomino, and has more on the way for next year.

Premium Foal Awards went to: Flying Shoes sired by Fuerst Gotthard out of Broadway Maggie [TB]), owned by Stacy Steiner, Misty Sunrise sired by Mannhattan out of Misty Cinnamon [Arab]), and Misty Sierra sired by Mannhattan out of Fable Cachet [Arab]), both foals owned by Tracy Scheinkman. Champion Foal Award and High Point Ribbon went to Misty Sierra with 8.5 scores in all categories, making her the highest scoring Oldenburg foal in Arizona and one of the highest scoring foals in the entire country! Congratulations to all the mares and foals presented and to their owners!

Morning Star Farms

To begin, everyone at Morning Star Farms would like to express our deepest sympathies to those of you affected by the events of September 11th. At times like these we are reminded of the privileges and honor of living in the United States of America.

We hope that each of the exhibitors and spectators at the TDC Fall Dressage
Show have a wonderful time. While enjoying the show, remember that you
are supporting a fabulous organization, T.R.O.T.!

Due to the September 11th tragedy the NA/WPN keuring in Tucson, scheduled for
September 12th, was canceled. Our thanks go to Shirley Yializis for all
of the hard work and preparation she put into hosting the event. There is always next year.

And while the judges may have to wait until 2002 to get a look at our Ferro/Rolls Royce filly, you don't. Beauty, along with all of the other

warmblood mares and fillies, would love to have you visit them. We promise that they will love the attention.

Morning Star Farms has an incredible addition to the family. Ulissa is a five-
Month-old Dutch filly out of a G Ramiro Z/Volckmar mare and sired by Idocus.
Ulissa's dam is the #1 NA/WPN mare this year and all of her offspring have been First Premium top 10. This sweet filly is everything that her bloodlines say she should be and we thank Susie Thrasher of Bonsall, California for allowing us to bring her home to Arizona.

On October 18th, sixty 6th graders from St. Gregory's  experienced the friendly, hands-on atmosphere of the farm. Our horses handled the experience with their usual calmness, while the students, parents and teachers were thoroughly delighted with the oppor-tunity to meet the animals up close. We relish introducing newcomers to the wonder of horses.

Please join us for the Exhibitors Dinner on Friday evening November
16th in
the Hall Of Champions at the Pima County Fair-grounds from 5-7 p.m. Also, be sure to stop by our booth outside the office and glance through our brag book. We really enjoy showing you what we have to offer.

You are always welcome to come visit the farm. In addition to some pretty
special horses, we also raise naturally grown beef and lamb for your holiday
feasts. Fall is a wonder-ful time to visit south-east Arizona and we look
forward to seeing you. For those who can't make it to the farm in person, you
can find us online at www.morningstarfarms.net.

Wishing you a joyous and safe Holiday season,
Rick & Holly Small
