FREE MONEY!
Each region has $1500 available for adult education grants for the fiscal year (April 2002 - March 2003). The Grant Application form needs the following information:

  1. Please describe the instructional program to be supported by this application. What is the need for your program and how will it help the participants?
  1. Date, number of participants, location, cost per person
  1. Instructor(s) name
  1. How will you advertise this activity
  1. Is this activity aimed at those new to the discipline? If no, who is the desired audience?
  1. Budget of expenses and income
  1. Amount requested

Grant money will be awarded after receipt of the event summary and profit/loss. At this time I have not received any applications. This grant is not for individuals. Next month I will publish the criteria and funds available for individual grants.

The Executive Board had a conference call on April 10th to discuss the search for the USDF

Executive Director. We had 70 applications of outstanding quality and will make a selection soon. The office move is on schedule.

I had several excellent applications for the Region 5 newsletter editor. Our new editor is Betty Fey. Her email is
bettyfey@fone.net and her snail mail is 6551 South County Rd. 10, Alamosa, CO  81101. Please submit articles about clinics and activities in your area and put her on your mailing list for newsletters.

We need a logo and banner for Region 5 to be used at the North American Young Rider Championships, Regional Championships, and other regional activities. If you have ideas for a design, please contact me as soon as possible.

Show season is in full swing. It is exciting to see all the new horse and rider combinations and the increase in the number of advanced young riders and junior riders this season. Happy Riding!
