REGION 5 NEWS

LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD
DELEGATES!

Region Five does not have a regional nominating coordinator, as Lois Arnold had to resign due to health reasons.  We wish her the best and a speedy recovery.  Meanwhile, is there someone out there who will be attending the USDF Convention in Orlando and would like to help with the voting process for the regional director?  If so, please let me know ASAP.  We are also looking for Participating Member Delegates.  We have 5  PM Delegates this year.  If you would like to run, please contact myself or Beth Wood at USDF again, ASAP.  Our region is electing a new Regional Director this year, and Terry Hunt from Arizona has been nominated.  If you would like to run for this position, please contact myself or Beth Wood at USDF, again, ASAP.

The FREE MONEY article did get some response!  I have sent out about 12 applications for the Regional Educational money, with none returned so far.  Are we having any Junior Team Championships or any Adult Team Championships? We can have two each in this region.  Again, if you would like to have one, please let me know so we can begin the approval and sponsorship proc

ess.

EDUCATION!  We have four applications so far for  the Adult Education many (and perhaps SOON USDF will get the application forms finished so we can begin to apply for the money!)  The applications I have so far are:

*Autumn Hill Farms Symposium with Linda Zang and Janet Brown (also an L Graduate Forum), Longmont, CO  May 2001
*Utah Dressage Adult Camp and Symposiums, June 2001
*Boulder  Valley Dressage Adult Camp and Symposiums,
July 2001
*CARA Symposium with Lois Yukins and Gerd Zuther, Chandler, AZ, Fall 2001

Applications for this grant money will close on May 15, 2001.  If you have an event, you must send me a complete budget, list of instructors, schedule of events, location, number of participants expected or your application will be discarded.  This information must be received by me on or before May 15.  USDF has been very slow to approve the forms for the funding, and I think it is unfair to not be able to tell the above applicants how much money

they will receive BEFORE their event.  It is very difficult to budget otherwise.  Hopefully as this program gets more organized this can all be taken care of within the month of January or February.
