Agape Dressage By Jennifer A. Parker
Another show season is winding down and that can only mean one thing…it's HOT! In just a few short weeks, many of us will be escaping to Flagstaff over the July 4th weekend for the summer shows. But first, a few kudos are due.
Congratulations to Lucy Ziurys and her TB gelding Star Fleet who were the 2001 Regional Champions at 1st level for the Performance Horse Registry. The PHR registers any breed that is involved in performance. This means Lucy and Fleet beat out many other Warmblood breeds to earn this honor.
Anna Calek and Kaibab have returned from a successful show at Del Mar placing in every class they entered against some very difficult competition. Anna reported that it was encouraging to see even the "big-name" professionals having problems with their horses in both the warm-up and show rings. It happens to everyone!

the Heat show thanks to Lynn Boice, Anna Calek, Nancy Orta, Shelene Taylor, and Lucy Ziurys. Lynn rode my young horse, Belarius, in his first recognized show and earned respectable scores of 58% and 60%. Better yet, he was completely well behaved and didn't spook at the tents, water trucks, flowers, etc. Not bad for a baby.
Shelene Taylor rode her TB gelding, Zen, in their first Dressage show and earned scores up to 64%! Shelene and Zen are converts from the Hunter world and seem to be enjoying their new dressage life.
Lucy and Fleet again showed how much progress they've been making by winning Second 1 and receiving their final qualifying score at First 4.
At 22, Saloma+ is still showing people how it's done, as she and Nancy Orta placed in all 4 First Level amateur classes with 3 scores above 60%.
Anna and Kai continue to advance at First Level and in the Freestyle. (On a side note, I am thrilled to see more and

more people competing in the Freestyle division. There were six great rides at this show, and I hope that will encourage even more people to get out there and "dance" with their horses.)
Robin Ritter's mare, Pride, had a great show at Second Level by earning two 1st places and a 2nd with scores up to 67%.
Everyone at Agape wishes Robin and Pride an enjoyable summer as they escape the "dry heat" and head for the cool, mountain air of Flagstaff from June until September. We'll all meet up at Hotel Ritter this 4th of July for fireworks and BBQ.
I'd like to welcome Barbara Rector, Laura Paddock and Jessica Johnson to Team Agape. I hope everyone has an enjoyable, relaxing summer filled with many happy rides.
