Adult Amateur Workshop

USDF/State Line Tack
Adult Team Competition
At CARA Harvest Show

The reviews from Central Arizona Riding Academy's last Adult Amateur Workshop were consistently ". . . we want more!" So we have scheduled our next workshop for September 7 through 9, 2001.

Lois Yukins and Gerd Zuther will be back for this year's workshop. Lois Yukins has an extensive background in hunters, jumpers and dressage. She owned and operated Cornerstone Farm during the 1970s. Lois has been an AHSA "S" and International "I" dressage judge for almost 30 years now. She currently instructs, trains, and judges. Gerd Zuther obtained his certification of Reitlehrer (riding instructor and trainer) FN in Germany. He has been in the United States for 23 years. Gerd has trained numerous horses up to the Grand Prix level in dressage, as well as for the jumper circuit. Both instructors were key to the success of our last workshop and plan on expanding the topics for our upcoming session.

Session topics include: biomechanics, how form effects function; rider fitness; cavelletti and lunging, how to incorporate these tools into your training program; showing sporthorses; understanding and improving the collective marks on your dressage tests; and more.

The cost of this workshop is a bargain. With the assistance of a grant from the USDF Region Five Educational Fund and support from the Arizona Dressage Association we are able to keep costs to a minimum. Active discussion participants are only $60 a day or $115 for the weekend if you are an adult amateur, and Junior and professionals are welcome to be active discussion participants for just $75 a day and $135 for the weekend. Adult Amateurs can also sign up to be a demo rider for $50 a day or $90 for both days (includes 1 ride per day and a stall for your horse - space is limited).

For more information and a sign up form, call 480-963-1310. This event, hosted by Ulrich and Dorie Schmitz, will be held at Central Arizona Riding Academy, 716 N. McQueen Rd., Chandler, AZ 85225. For more information contact either Dorie Vlatten-Schmitz or Vicki Bernhardt at
480-963-1310  or fax  480-786-8550.
