APRIL 2001

BEAT THE HEAT Show
   Preparation in Full Swing

Preparations are underway for the Tucson Dressage Club BEAT THE HEAT SHOW at the Pima County Fairgrounds on May 12th and 13th.
This show is prepared to handle three rings if entries warrant. The sand arenas on the south side will be used rather than the north outside arenas. Currently Sue Madden Mandas "S" (OH) and Ginny Bergman Wailes "R" (CA) are the judges.
For competitors, entries opened March 26th and

will close April 16th.  In addition to the High Point Awards and All Breed Awards is the USDF/Dover Saddlery Adult Amateur Medal for Second Level adult amateur competitors entering class #68.
For our large equine competitors, there are a limited number of large stalls available.  Please get your entry in early if your mount requires one of these large stalls.
On Friday night, May 11th, a complimentary

competitors' dinner will be held at the Cantina located on the Fairgrounds. Please RSVP to Ellie Stine-Masek at 520-586-9611 if you can attend.
To ensure an enjoyable, smoothly run show for our competitors and guests, we need volunteers!  There are lots of positions available, and lots of prizes to thank you for your volunteer time, too.  Please call Wendy Russell at 520-456-8978 or 403-9949 if you can help out.

FREE STUFF!!!

OKAY, now that I have your attention . . .
The May BEAT THE HEAT show date is rapidly approaching.  It is the weekend of May 12th and 13th (Mother's Day weekend).
We need volunteers!  And if you volunteer, you could get FREE STUFF!!!  We will have drawings both days for our much-appreciated volunteers.
The May show is also the opportunity to visit with your fellow club members, put the names with the faces, watch gorgeous horses, and enjoy our beautiful sunny southern Arizona weather. All you need to do is spend a morning or afternoon at the Fairgrounds. You could sit with The Judge and hear expert commentary as a scribe. Hang out outside and watch the latest warm-up and schooling techniques as a ring steward. Watch rides and get the first look at their scores as a runner. If you prefer a cushy office position in the air conditioning, you could hand out the ribbons and prizes or add up the test scores. If you want to rub elbows with the big shots, play taxi for the judges or take them to dinner.
There's something for everyone at the May Show! To sign up for this exclusive offer, please contact
Wendy Russell at (520)456-8978. My cell phone number is 403-9949, or you may email me at
