| Brad
and Phoenix were room-mates in college.
Brad calls himself "BIG BAD
BRAD" or BBB, that's how he signs his name (BBB)
Brad likes MTV, in particular, The
Real World
Brad is a fan of Britney Spears
and the rest of the band is embarrassed of him. (Since some people
are dumb, I must clerify this...its most likely that he doesn't
like her music as he would never ever want to collaborate with her..he's
simply attracted to her like millions of other guys.)
1st album that made an impression
on Brad was: Depeche Mode "People are People.
Brad's first instrument was the
trumpet.
Brad's first band was the Pricks in 1994
Brad was also in a band with Rob. It was rock meets rap and funk,
they were called 'Relative Degree'. They practiced a lot, played
a show then it fell apart.
Brad's defining moment, early in his career, was losing his pants
at an industry showcase.
Brad's career highlight so far was hearing "one step closer"
on KROQ in LA.
Brad's favorite album is Sunny Day Real Estate "Diary."
Brad's musical role model is Chester :)
Brad's greatest obsession is sleeping.
Brad would never part w/ his toothbrush.
Brad can't imagine being on the
road without all 16 personalities in the band.
Brad didn't want to go to Hooters to celebrate the success of the
album because he was a good (innocent) guy who never really did
things like that; he suggested bowling; but eventually went with
the guys to hooters.
The latest record that Brad bought as of OCT 2000 was Incubus's
new record.
According to Brad, the strangest thing a fan has ever requested was
linkin park's pubic hair. Fans in the UK actually brought tape to
put it on. He previously said that the strangest request he ever
got from a fan was to sign body parts that shouldn't be signed.
Every Christmas, Brad and his family hold a dinner in an auditorium
for the homeless & Mike likes to help out.
Brad had a mullet (in high school/college) because he was into thrash
metal like Guns n roses and Metallica..and the other long hair bands.
He tried to grow his hair long but his hair grew out rather then
down ..so he tried straightening it w/ a hair dryer which didn't
work so he them tried to straighten it w/ chemicals and "it
died"...basically his hair didn't look like it was supposed
to, it was a mullet instead :)
Brad got his 1st guitar in 6th grade.
Brad does a lot of things in his playing that he does to try and
define his own sound, one of which is using harmonics. He likes
to use harmonics because oftentimes they don't even sound like traditional
guitar playing. "With the right effects and the right performance
harmonics on, a guitar can sound like a keyboard, or strings, and
more rooted in an approach that works well with the hip-hop and
electronic influences in our songs."-brad
Brad used to color his hair different
colors (ie./ purple) in high school.
Brad was voted Most Unique in his highschool yearbook .
The first time Brad heard 'One
Step Closer' on the radio, it wasn't the full song, it was a clip
of the song on a radio spot, and linkin park were all in the van
together.
When Brad has 2 hrs off (from lp
stuff) then he tries to find a movie theatre and see whatever he
can.
Brad's guitar heroes are: Dave Matthews, Stef from the Deftones,
Sunny Day Real Estate and other non-guitar driven stuff. Brad prefers
to listen to non-metal stuff like Dido rather then rock this way
he can draw from a lot of sources and make something special.
If he was anyone on tv he'd be someone of Seinfeld 'cos he's got
such a dorky sense of humour.
Brad used to see Incubus play when he "was like in 9th grade
at The Whisky" a lot. Rob also actually went to highschool
w/ incubus.
Although Brad will NEVER reveal the real reason he wears his headphones
on stage he did say this in a shoutweb interview: "I will say
that it has something to do with the matrix. Not the movie, the
actual matrix and being connected with it. Mr. Hahn has been rubbing
off on me. I'm starting to integrate sci-fi humor into my schtick.
It probably isn't too popular with a mass audience." LOL, "But
I won't give him credit for the headphones. That's all mine."
Brad has a reputation for being pretty anti-social.
Brad played the Family Values Tour
2001 w/ a broken foot. He broke it while filming the video for "In
The End" in L.A. The stage set for the video had these little
stairways with a ledge. Nathan Cox, who co-directed the video with
Joe, wanted him to jump off this 3-5 foot thing and he couldn't
land it right so the third time he did land it but he hurt his foot.
Then he had to play on it the whole night for 16 hours. His foot
healed but then LP played a Camden, New Jersey show and he did something
to it.
What do you like about being in the band?
"I love playing music with my friends. I'm really proud of
the record we've made and the opportunity we have to play these
songs all around the world. Much respect to all the people who have
supported us and help us to make dis ting happen -- Booyakasha!"
