Heero stepped forward and rang the doorbell. The five pilots listened as running feet approached the door. "Hello?" two small boys, noses still buried in their gameboys, stood in the doorway. Duo stepped forward.
"Uh, we're here to see about the tour. We already made arrang-" "Bye," said the two little boys who hadn't once looked up. The door slammed in his face. Duo stood in mid-gesture staring at the door in confusion. Suddenly the pilots jumped back as a girl's angry voice exploded from the house.
"Boris! Goten! How many times have I told you to get someone older to answer the door! Now get to the library, Boris, you have a flute lesson with Sasha." The door swung open to reveal a rather harrassed looking young girl. The pilots shrank back slightly. Sounds of dissapointment and whining sounded in the distance.
"I'm sorry, CLEARLY THEIR BRAINS ARE TOO SMALL for civilized conversation."The middle part was directed over her shoulder into the now guilty silence of the house. She turned back to the pilots, "don't worry, I don't bite." She said, seeing the looks on their faces. "You're the ones who wanted to board here for awhile?" The pilots nodded with a bit of uncertainty. "OK... Trunks! Riana!" She shouted. A all purple-haired boy and a rather short girl with glasses poked their heads through the doorway. The loud girl cleared her throat.
"Good... I'm Rina, this is Trunks and Riana, they'll be showing you around. Now I have to start dinner so so I'll be in the kitchen if you need me." Rina disappeared down the hallway. The group stood in the the hallway, neither party uttering a word. Trowa could of sworn he'd heard a muttered "Boris! What a name!" Another girl poked her head out of her room and squinted at them.
"Aw come on, Riana! Usually you're never silent! Speak up!"
This seemed to wake everyone up. The pilots stepped inside and Trunks took a deep breath, preparing for the commentary he had given countless times. He led them along the hallway as he spoke. "Coming up is Riana and Naomi's room. Riana you know and Naomi you just met. Next door is the inirmary, Riana's private kingdom." The pilots poked around curiously but stopped short when they found a cabinet full of syringes. Riana gave them a grin that was in no way reasuring. Trunks shuddered a bit but continued on.
"Straight ahead is the library. We use it for doing home work and music lessons." He winced as off key flute music floated, or rather stumbled, throught the door. "Sasha teaches flute, Rina does violin, and Mila gives piano lessons. Next is the kitchen, or Rina's domain. We mere mortals are restricted, but she let's Sasha in every once in awhile." The flute lesson had ended and Sasha squeezed past the others into the kitchen. A strong honey-cinnamon smell wafted from from inside and Duo made a bee line for the source of the heaveny scent, but Trunks stopped him with surprising strength. Duo looked dejected but got the message. He'd just have to sneak in later.
"Moving on... to our left is the physical fitness station as it is refered to by Rina and Sasha." The pilots were starting to get the feeling that Rina and Sasha must be the ones in charge. Wufei grunted. "We humans call it the sweaty-"
"For your information, it's the phisical fitness room and we are too humans!" Screetches rang throught the hallway. Clanging of pots followed.
Wufei had had enough. "Women should know their place!" His voice echoed through the many rooms of the irregularly large "house". Riana looked up sharply.
"Come over here and say that, Mr. Ponytail!" "Don't make me laugh, weakling!" "Ooh, that's it!"
Thinking frantically, Trunks realized that there was only one thing to do. Racing against time, trunks scrambled towards the kitchen and dining room and screeched to a halt infront of the large, absurd gong.
ZOOOIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGG
"Dinner!"
Nine pairs of feet trampled the new comers with cries of "I hope we don't have trout again!", "you have absolutely no taste at all!" and "I smell chicken soup!"
Quatre groaned as he stood up and dusted himself off. He jumped as his arm was caught in mid sweep. He stared with a queasy, slightly fearful sensation into Riana's thick spectacles. She merely grinned and pulled him off to the table. He threw a doomed, helpless look at Trowa over his shoulder as he was dragged away. Duo was bent double, barely containing his giggles.
After they were all seated, Trowa noticed that everyone but his felow gundam piots were staring at him. He tried to ignore this. Finally, someone tapped his shoulder.
"Excuse me, um, I think, I mean it it's okay with you, that's my spot." Naomi made sure not to make direct eye contact with him, though in all honesty she wouldn't have been able to squint through his massive, crystalized bangs. When she did look up Trowa had already moved to take his place next to Heero.
Pan, Rina, and Sasha filed out of the kitchen and brought out platters of chicken, fish, and salad. One giant bowl of soup squatted in the center of the table. Heero took a piece of chicken and some soup. Duo took a helping of everything. Trowa selected some salad and a piece of fish. Quatre politely asked for some salad and a bowl of soup. He commented on how nicely the meal had been prepared, making Rina and Sasha beam with pride. Wufei was about to contradict Quatre but was silenced by Duo's heel.
Heero noticed that there were six faces he hadn't seen earlier. Every once and awhile they would look up and whisper behind their hands. He made a note to find out if they were his enemies.
Once dinner was over and everyone was content, Rina pulled down a chart. Actually, it was a calendar with everyone's name on it.The pilots' names were now being added. "Let's see, Goten, Riana, it's your turn to wash dishes."
"Do I have to?" Goten whined.
"Yes, you have to. Now, Mister!" Sasha herded the protesting adolescents into the kitchen. She came back out in after a few seconds and turned to look at the pilots. "Oh!" She exclaimed. "You must be the new ref- boarders. Hi! My name's Sasha, sorry I didn't get around to meet you before." Her cheerful demeanor was beginning to get on a few of the pilots' nerves.
Quatre spoke for his friends. "I'm Quatre Raberba Winner, this is Heero Yuy, Duo Maxwell, Trowa Barton, and Wufei Chang."
"Good to meet you all. This is Pan, Gohan, Michael, and my brother Boris. The little whiner in the kitchen is Goten. Here, Pan will show you to your rooms." A little girl with green skin and another little girl with blue hair came in just as she was about to finish. "Oops, almost forgot! These two ladies are Mila and Bra, they've been with us for two years." The pilots tried not to stare at the oddly colored residents.
Quatre shared a room with Trunks. Next was Trowa and Duo's room. It was just like Quatre's room, except for the color of the carpet. Heero and Wufei also shared a room, also a different color. Everyone including Riana and Goten finally went to sleep. That is, everyone except Duo, Quatre and Wufei.
"Well," said Quatre, who had snuck into to Trowa and Duo's room to talk. "This is cerainly interesting."
"I say the two female monarchs are insane. It's injustice."
"The chicken was good, but the soup was a little bland. Odd bunch of kids, I wonder where all the adults are." Duo yawned. "You know what I think, Quatre?"
"Hmm, what?"
"I think Riana likes you."
"Does not!"
"Which one's Riana?" Wufie asked.
"She's the one with the syringe. She does too." Duo said. Quatre was too polite to claw his face off. "What do you think, Wufei?"
"This whole women business is irritating. Can't we talk about something else?"
"Duo, she's scary." Quatre muttered. "I think we better go to sleep, good night."
"'Night."
"AAHHH *yawn*" Goten stretched and rubbed his left eye. He yawned and stretched three more times just to savor the moment. His tail twitched lazily. Boris was still snoring as was his custom.
A call reverberated down the hallway. "Breakfast, everyone, food! Time to start the day with bright, shining faces! " When that failed to get a response, Rina tried a different track. "Come on, wake up already! Do I have to play my violin?!" This caught most everyone's attention. Goten looked over at Boris with a small amount of panic in his eyes. If he didn't wake up soon, they'd all be blasted.
"Aw, come on, Boris. Please wake up!" Goten shook the boy hard.
"Just ten minutes, Mom." He turned over and continued to snore.
"Oh no." He could hear Rina tuning up in the next room. "Think, think, thi- ah! Boris, your sister got the new pokemon game!" Boris catapulted out of bed. The words "pokemon" and "new game" had penetrated his nine year old brain.
"What? Where?" He looked around wildly.
"It's time for breakfast, hurry up. She's already tuned!"
Goku had a similar problem with Michael, but luckily new what to do. "Kame-"
"Alright, I'm up!"
The ragtag group of boarders made it's way to the kitchen. The four boys made their way blindly to their seats and reached for their food. Which just happened not to be there.
"Where's break-" Duo was loudly interrupted by a horrible, inorganic screech. Everyone clapped their hands over their ears. Some of the kids ran into the kitchen.
"I can't believe they're attacking so early! Do they even sleep?"
"I know. Rina and Sasha must have already gone out."
"What- attacking?! Who-?" Exclaimed a bewildered Duo.
"Oh, it's just the villagers again." Someone said dismissively.
"Why would they be attacking?" Quatre asked.
"Come on, we have to get to our gundams!" Duo made to leave, but was barred by michael and Boris. Duo could have probably gotten past fairly easily but held back, curious as to what they would say.
"No! You can't go!" Boris nearly stuttered. "It's not your fight, they're not here for you! They can handle it."
"But they're just normal people." Duo protested. "They'll get killed!"
"Oh no they won't." Michael said in a reassuring tone. "It's just a group of people from the village and one mobile suit. Plus we have a few tricks up our sleeves."
Heero started to advance on the two boys in a somewhat threatening way. He was stopped when someone grabbed his arm. Again, he could have easily broken free, but decided not to. "Let me show you something, it might put you all a bit more at ease." Naomi said quietly.
"Naomi, I'm not sure..." Trunks began, but Naomi ignored him. She led them over to the window. It was raining, but that was not important. What was important was the odd scene they observed. Two creatures stood in the rain, trying to hold off a small mob. One was blue, the other was copper, no other details could really be made out from where the pilots stood. A leo mobile suit was lying on its side smoking and useless not to far away.
"The blue scaly one is Sasha in her second form." Naomi said against all probability. "The coppery one with metal skin is Rina in her second form. All four- Oh shoot!" Naomis slapped her forehead. "Rina, you nut, it's raining! You'll rust!" She grabbed something off a nearby desk and dashed out the door into the pouring rain. The kids watched in facination out the window as Naomi ran up to Rina, who had been shouting something at the villagers, and squirted her with some inky black stuff and rushed back inside.
"That was close! She always forgets!"
"......."
"......."
"......."
"......."
"Uh..... rust?" Quatre said weakly.
"Yep, she's made of metal, weren't you listening?" Riana answered. "She rusts if she gets wet. That's why she can't train around Sasha."
When met with five blank stares Riana realized what she was saying. "Hah, woops! That's right, you're new. Well, see what hap-" They rest of what she said was incomprehensible through Mila's hand. A usually shy girl, the namekian tried to do this in the most polite way possible. Duo still found himself getting stuck over the odd shade of her skin...
"Ummm.... I hate to be rude, but-"
"It's a long story that I would prefer not to tell at the moment. We'll let Rina and Sasha explain all this when they get back."
Bra glance out the window. The villagers were making a hasty retreat. If it hadn't been raining, she might have been able to see the smug looks of satisfaction on the two creatures' faces. "Looks like they're almost done, as it is."
The pilots looked out the window again in time to see two human girls walk up to the door and come in. "Hello! We're ba-ack!" Rina said cheerfully. "Now who wants breakfast- Oh..." She stopped midway. Five extremely confused faces confronted her. Sasha wasn't looking where she was going and bumped into her.
"Hey! What's the big- Oh..."
"......."
"You-you-you..."
"Nani?!?"
"Oh my.."
*grumble*
The five pilots sat down. Hard. Riana shook her head. "We'd better explain just who we are."
A FEW MINUTES LATER
"Good, now that we're all here, I think we can talk. Now you guys want to know who - and what- we are, right?"
NOD
"Okay, let's start with the z-fighters. Go-ku, you go first."
Go-ku stood. "I am actually about 30-40 years old. I was wished back into a little kid by a nasty, greenish, short guy with a weird hat. I am a defender of Earth and most of all my family." He sat down. "Gohan?"
"Okay, this is going to sound very strange. I'm his son." He pointed at Go-ku. Duo groaned. "Okay, so far so good... and this is my daughter." He pointed to Pan. Trowa's face was as straight and stony as ever. "Any questions?" When the pilots didn't say anything he sat back down.
Goten popped his head into the room. He'd missed role call. "What's up, guys? Why's everyone staring at each other?"
"Ahem. This is my other son, Goten." Go-ku said.
"Oh, this again." Goten made himself comfortable and grinned disarmingly.
"Trunks? Trunks! Wake up, dummy!" Riana prodded Trunks who had fallen asleep in a sitting position.
"Hmm? Wazzat?"
"This is Trunks." Go-ku said for him. "His future self came back to the past to warn us about the androids who were going to destroy us." He said it with much practice. Trunks smiled innocently. "Riana and Naomi came from an OZ base."
"An OZ base?" Heero asked suspiciously.
"Yes, an OZ base. You see, a couple years ago OZ started to secretly recruit children -willing or not- who were extremely advanced in certain fields. You know the leos and tauruses? Those are Naomi's doing." The pilots' jaws went slack. Naomi modestly stared at the carpet. "Lady Une, who was believed to be dead, was healed by Riana." The girl beamed with pride, her glasses sparkled. "Mila, you've probably noticed, is green. This is because she is half namekian." Mila coughed. "And last but not least, Rina, Sasha, Michael, and Boris. We're not quite sure what they are." Everyone could hear Trunks's stomack rumble. He looked slightly embarrassed. "That's a bit more complicated. You can ask them about it after breakfast or when they feel like it, I suppose."
