A 15th International Course on Endoscopic Surgery of the Paranasal Sinuses is organized at the Free University of Brussels by Prof. P. Clement and at the University of Cologne (Köln, Lindenthal) by Prof. E. Stennert.

 

§         The AIM OF THE COURSE is to familiarize ENT specialists with this type of surgery, which represents one of the major advances in paranasal sinus surgery of the last decade. The course will take place in two major historic cities of Europe.  The official start will be in the university of Brussels.

This dynamic combination of interactive lectures, demonstrations and laboratory dissection of cadaver material is designed to update and enhance the skills of eligible otolaryngologists. This course provides an in-depth study of the surgical anatomy, of the  Messerklinger and Wigand technique, hands-on cadaver dissection, live surgery, post operative care. Demonstrations by and discussion with the faculty members are included. Basic as well as advanced techniques will be discussed (the difficult frontal recess and sinus, orbital and optic nerve decompression, lacrimal sac surgery). Every participant can familiarize himself with these types of surgery on 2 cadaver heads (one in Brussels, one in Cologne), one documented by high resolution CT scans. The latest technical achievements in this type of surgery are demonstrated, such as 3D CT navigation, powered instruments etc. Competent teachers will emphasize various endonasal sinus surgery techniques.

The use of endoscopic equipment is provided by the STORZ and WOLF & MEDTRONIC companies.


The FACULTY consists of international experts in this field: Bachert C (Ghent), Bernal-Sprekelsen M (Barcelona), Clement P (Brussels), Close L (New York), Damm M (Cologne), Hosemann W (Regensburg), Michel O (Cologne), Rice D (Los Angeles), Schaefer S (New York), Stennert E (Cologne), Thumfart W (Innsbruck), Weber R (Magdeburg), Zinreich J (Baltimore).

§         Official course language:  English (no simultaneous translation will be provided)

§         Enrollment in this course with cadaver surgery is limited to 80 participants. It is also possible to attend only the lectures. Residents can benefit from a reduced rate, if their registration form is accompanied by a letter from the person in charge of their training program.

§         REGISTRATION FEE includes participation to the course, coffee breaks & lunches mentioned on the course schedule, shuttle service from the recommended hotels, shuttle service to Cologne.

§         The accompayning person program consists of the welcome dinner in Brussels, farewell banquet in Cologne and bustransports.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

A block of rooms in the environment of the course sites in Brussels and Cologne is foreseen.

Detailed information on prices and reservation guidelines follows after registration. Only for these recommended hotels a shuttle service to and from the course site is foreseen, following the time schedule of the course. The participant is at all time responsible for his hotel reservation and invoice.

 

PAYMENT OF SUBSCRIPTION FEE

Registration becomes official after payment of the registration fee, to be arranged immediately after subscription. You will receive the details for payment via separate mailing. Payment by credit card, however, is not possible. 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

You will receive a brochure with all relevant information including a list of the recommended hotels, method of payment, cancellation and refund policy as soon as available after registration.
