Censorship is Unconstitutional and the Government Needs
a Bitchslapping
Ahhh yes, the ever-popular topic of censorship. Censorship is one of
the most unconstitutional practices exercised by the government today,
yet is completely ignored by the majority of the public, save the ones
that are being censored. Defined in Merriam Webster's Collegeate
dictionary, 2004 Edition, Censorship is: the practice of examining in
order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable. That
being said, why is the government suppressing or deleting objectionable
material? Once upon a time, there was a document called the Bill of
Rights. in it, there was the FIRST AMMENDMANT, which grants freedom of
speech and the press. This does not say, freedom of speech and the
press, strictly controlled, monitored, and repressed by the FCC.
Who gave them the right? What happenned to a government by the people,
for the people? If we don't want censorship, we should not have it.
Now, some may say that censorship is necessary. Well, no. The
government not telling the nation battle plans, top secret issues, is
completely understandable, and does not violate the Bill of Rights.
However, when they ban books, hold back the release of movies, alter
movies, television shows, music, books, magazines, etcetera, they cross
the line. We, the people, put out our products, expecting they will go
unaltered to the public, so we may [ hopefully] make a profit off of
these products. Not only make a profit, but send the message they want
to send through their producti. Howevr, this does not occur. The
government seizes these products and examines them for any material
they feel should not reach the public eye. If there is an idea
about the government (or anything for that matter) they do not like,
then it will be eliminated, the idea will never reach the public. This
unconstitutional in any and every way. Who gave them the right? Who
gave them the right to just take our materials and change them so that
they fit the mold of the perfect US they wish to create? They want to
control our thoughts. They want to directly influence the minds of our
nation, molding them the way they would like. How dare they.
In this aspect, the US is moving towards a totalitarian society. In
earlier years, there was no FCC, but as there are more and more
productions, there are more ideas the government does not want out
there. Many laws are also becoming too intrusive. The government needs
to draw the line on how far they will go, and they need to do it soon.
If they do not establish a point at which they say,"All right, this is
too far", they will indubitably cross the line and deeply regret it.
Censorship and propaganda are the most powerful weapons the government
has to use against its own people. On the news, we hear about countries
in the middle east, as well as former Soviet Union states, whose media
were controlled directly by the government; everything they were told
about the outside world was a lie. But they did not know. They had no
idea the entire time. And how would they? They don't see it happenning,
so they trust the media to inform them. That is extreme censorship.
Have you ever wondered if that could be happening here? What if the
majority of what we're told about the goings-on of the world was a lie?
This is very possible, and yet another instance of when the evil of
censorship rears its ugly head.
Back to hell
