Poetry By Willow Dancer

"It Never Was Your Fault"

Just the thought of being alone
was more than you could stand,
pretending was a way of life
each time he raised his hand.

All the hurt, the shame and pain
to afraid to voice your fears,
the purple marks soon fade away
you've hidden them for years.

You couldn't tell your neighbors
they just wouldn't understand,
friends would say I told you so
he's a coward, not a man.

Please goddess give you courage
and the strength it takes to go,
leave your ring upon his pillow
so finally he will know.

Now walk away and don't look back
lock the door and leave your key
you've left behind your nightmare
at long last, you're finally free!
