Shrinkle Instructions



MATERIALS:

Styrofoam meat trays
Used and clean felt pens (permanent works best)
Scissors
White glue
Spatula or craft stick
Baking sheet
Aluminum Foil
300° Oven

PROCESS:

Draw a picture on a Styrofoam meat tray with makers
Place on a baking sheet covered with aluminum foil.
Poke hole for hanging before you begin baking.
Bake at 300° for 3 to 5 minutes.
If design curls, press flat with a spatula or stick
(Adult supervision suggested).
Hang with yarn, rubber band, or wire

VARIATIONS:

Cut out pre-colored shape, punch hole and bake.
Use for a pendant or ornament.
Glue magnet to back of design and use for refrigerator magnet.
Glue jewelry clasp to and wear as pin.

CAUTION:

Bake in a well ventilated area.
(When consulted about the possible dangers
involving gases from this project,
environmental authorities advised that merely melting
the plastic and thereby shrinking it was not harmful.
However, burning the plastic or Styrofoam releases
gases into the atmosphere which are
harmful to the ozone layer.
Recycling this project, as art is
a good use for left over Styrofoam and
plastic as long as the products are not burned.)
