A middle-aged couple were going out on vacation and they left their daughter with her grandmother. It was the day before they were leaving to go back home and still hadn't picked up a souvenir for their daughter. During lunch some stray dogs were scrounging for food. The couple noticed one small animal and handed him a little of their meal. The wife thought that this would be the perfect gift for their daughter. They hid the dog on the way over the border and arrived in late at night. The young girl greeted her parents and was presented with the pet. She adored it and took it to her room for the night. The next morning, her mother walked in to wake her and noticed the white circles around the dog's eyes and a slight amount of foam near the corners of it's mouth. The family ran the dog over to the vet, concerned about it's health. After waiting several hours, the vet spoke with the parents privately. "Where did you pick up this animal?" the vet questioned. Not wanting any trouble, the father replied "At a shelter.". " This animal was not found at a shelter." the vet stated. "We picked him up on our vacation." the wife said. "So, what is wrong with him?" asked the man. "First of all he isn't a dog, he is a Mexican sewer rat, and secondly he has rabies."
