Sisters in Crime

Desert Sleuths Chapter

Phoenix, Arizona
An organization for readers, writers and fans of mystery

Sisters in Crime is a nationwide organization that exists to combat discrimination against women in the mystery field, to educate publishers and the general public as to the inequalities in the treatment of female authors, and to raise the level of awareness of their contribution to the field. Much has improved since the early days of the organization, but it's a job that is never completely finished. Today there are nearly 50 chapters across the country and there are thousands of members, both female and male.

Find out from her how you can help get your novel selected by a Hollywood studio and what’s involved in moving the written word to screen image. Also, learn why people are often disappointed when they see the film version of a favorite novel and why novelists are often the worst person to write the screen adaptation of their own work.

Now Chairperson of the Film School at Scottsdale Community College, where she teaches screenwriting, Ms. Herbert, with ten years experience in the film industry in LA, is included in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Entertainment, Who’s Who of American Women, and Who’s Who in the West.
