Arizona Science Center Outreach Programs at Park Day
Constuctioneering Workshop Participants work in teams with large-scale
building materials (Plastic pipe and connectors) to
create structures that introduce them to architectural and engineering
principles.
A. Pre-K to Grade 1: 9:00 am

B. Grade 2 Grade 6: 10:15 am

Soda Bottle Rockets Using plastic bottles, water, and compressed
air, students learn about aerodynamics as they design, test,
modify, and launch rockets to altitudes of 100 feet and higher.

$7 per PERSON (does include admission), Adult Zoo members are free
but still must RSVP, child zoo members must pay $7 like non-member children.
Reduced rate of $2 per person for those who participated in either Fall Fundraiser
Bring lunch or buy it at the snack bar. Stroller rentals are available
for $2 - $10. Safari Guided Train Tours are $1.50 per
person.
Hour long workshops at the zoo that offer the children the opportunity
to play, explore, and discover the wonders of nature
through hands-on activities, role-playing, storytelling and LIVE animal
presentations.

Beanie Baby Bed & Breakfast Learn about what animals eat
and where they live. Students will make their own habitat for
their beanie baby friends (brought from home) and enjoy close up encounters
with their live animal cousins.
B. 1st 3rd grades
Where’s Dinner? Explore the world of animal habitats and diet. With
live animals and hands-on activities, students will discover
what animals need to survive.

accompanying video to watch before or after the tour. Please arrive

This fun-filled, hands-on trip to the world’s largest fire fighting
museum is perfect for our youngest visitors! Museum educators
introduce visitors to the basics of fire safety. Students will get
a chance to hear a story, climb on a real fire engine, learn
life-saving fire safety techniques, watch videos of firefighters in
action and have lots of fun! Bring a sack lunch and bread to feed
the ducks at Encanto Park afterward.

Five galleries of exhibits featuring anatomy, psychology, physical
science, water play and more. Planetarium show features a
tour of the planets in our galaxy. Jason broadcast features 3 giant
screens of scientists giving live reports on location in Hawaii
answering student questions. Giant screen movie “The Living Sea” afterward.

“Rendezvous with a Comet” simulates a rendezvous with Comet Encke as
it nears the Earth and involves launching a space
probe into the comet’s tail. The Learning Center is comprised of a
“Spacecraft” which gives students a simulated experience of
working in space, and “Mission Control” which is modeled after Mission
Control at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in
Houston, Texas. The Learning Center presents tasks and poses realistic
dilemmas to develop problem-solving and
communications skills. The experience is a two and a half hour mission.
