ARTHRITIS RELIEF



The essential oils beneficial in arthritis are primarily anti-inflammatory and analgesic in physical effects.They include:

Chamomile
Cypress
Cedarwood
Eucalyptus
Ginger
Juniper
Lavender
Lemon
Marjoram
Myrrh
Pine
Peppermint
Petitgrain
Rosemary
Sandalwood


Traditional herbs helpful in these conditions are:

Burdock Root
Cayenne Pepper
Celery Seed
Feverfew
Kelp
Prickly Ash
White Willow
Meadowsweet
Thyme
Yarrow
Yucca

Garlic and Onion also help to relieve symptoms of arthritis because of their effect promoting circulation.Use them freely in cooking.
Taking vitamin C and E along with the anti-oxidants,may be beneficial because joints need oxygen-rich blood to function properly


Recipes

Arthritis Rub

for local areas only
14 drops Lavender oil
10 drops Rosemary oil
8 drops Peppermint oil
6 drops Juniper oil
1 tsp. Carrot seed oil
2 Tbls.St.John's Wort oil
2 Tbls.vegetable oil
Add the oils to an amber glass bottle that holds at least 2 ounces.Shake gently and label.Use in small amounts by applying to painful or swollen joints.Can be used two or three times a day.

Compress for Arthritic Joints

A cold compress to relieve pain and swelling
1 cup cold water
3 drops chamomile oil
3 drops hyssop oil
2 drops cypress oil

Add cold water to the bowl.Add the oils and stir well to disperse.Soak the flannel in the water.Wring out the cloth and apply to the affected area.Once the compress becomes warm or dry,replace it with a fresh one.Leave the compress on for a duration of 15 to 20 minutes.This may be repeated 2 or 3 times a day.


Arthritis Herbal Tea

Taking an herbal tea daily will be helpful in alleviating pain systemically.IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC to SALICYLATES,omit the meadowsweet.Drink 1 to 2 cups daily.
1 cup hot water
1 tsp.honey or ginger honey
1 tsp.fresh lemon juice
1 tsp.apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp.chamomile flowers
1/2 tsp.meadowsweet herb
Pour a cup of hot water over the herbs and allow to steep for 5 minutes.Strain and add the lemon and vinegar.Add the honey(more or less to taste)Drink warm or cold.

Ginger Honey

1 1/2 cups raw honey
2-inch piece fresh ginger root(thinly sliced)

Heat honey over low setting.Add sliced ginger and heat gently,taking care not to boil.Taste after about 20 to 30 minutes.It should be very flavorful and the ginger slices almost dry.Strain with slotted spoon.Cool,store in labeled glass jar
