I have wondered how you are doing and what you are doing all these years but lost your phone number a long time ago, and no one in the Play It Again Band seems to have it, and even fewer these days remember the incident. I will never forget it. I was 2 rows exactly in front of you on the left side of the band. When that little horse brused my leg and ran away and I turned and you were lying unconscious in the middle of Central, it was so traumatic for me and mostly for you. I stayed a little while until the paramedics arrived. I eventually ran and caught up with the band, which I should have forgotten, since the "fun" of the parade was gone. You were about 50 yards away from me. I saw the pony running away. I'm so sorry that you were hit. I always loved the Play It Again Band. I thought it was a band of Smitty's employees. When I learned it was adult players, I signed up. (We now sign an indemnity release form, and someone told me it was because of your injuries.)Well, I have been playing the flute or piccolo for the past 6 years, and people are still talking about you. It is nice to know your name. All I ever heard was to watch out for that back row. I'm happy you are doing better. May you continue to get better. I always think of you when I march the parade. | Comments: | Dear Jean, I happened upon your site while looking for info on getting
an entry form for the Pasadena Rose Bowl Parade for my equestrian entry. I
was very saddened to read about your terrible accident. I am so sorry. I
have two miniature horses that have been in over 15 parades so far. I
spent countless hours training them to be "bomb proof". I had a full size
horse that passed the Canadian Mounted Police's riot controll course where
they were literally bomb proofed. It just makes me sick when I hear of
incidents like yours. Even with my miniature horses, just 34" tall, I
always have a ground handler walking with them for safety when we
participate in events like parades. I guess I wouldn't blame you if you
hated horses. Best wishes to you and God Bless you with continued courage
and faith. |

I'm at a crossroads in my life (hopefully) of maybe dealing with JUST the side effects of my brain injury and the physical pain be a memory....but hey, that would be great because my memory has been so effected -- maybe I could never remember the constant severe pain of the past 20 years!!!! Iwent to bed that night about 1:a.m and woke up on the bedroom floor about 2:30 a.m. could not stand up the ambulance came and got me took me to hospital in Brecken-ridge mn. same hospital i was born in. They transferd me to fargo for tests after about a week i started therapy and went home the day before thanksgiving. I could walk again by mid dec.However i still have no use of my left hand or arm.
