FROM TAOS, NEW MEXICO

Sunday, (February 20)

Mother

Today, at 2:30pm, it started snowing. In 30 mminutes, it snowed 1 to 2 inches. However, it was so warm (above 32 degrees) that the snow began melting as soon as it stopped snowing. So fast, in fact, that the snow scenes began disappearing before I could get a camera out. glenn jr ==================================

New Car - 1995 Ford Tarus - 140,000 miles - good condition
I may have trouble getting used to driving a car that has a working heater, working windshield wipers, and none of the door handles broken off.

Well, we finaly had our first good snow of the season. Yesterday morning the Horizon had about 4-6 inches of snow on it when the snow stopped just before daylight.

The day was overcast, but reasonably pleasant. No wind.

I didn't go out and get any snow pictures (which would be my usual routine after a good snow). Had a video to finish and deliver as early as possible.

I did get your phone message wishing me a "Happy New Year!" Thanks! Happy New Year to you too!

Happy New Years!

I can't tell too much difference between today and Yesterday. Between the old year and the new year.

Still had to do my laundry today, just like last year as a result, however, I am starting out the new year with clean clothes. ALL of them - five loads worth.

The weather was exceptionally nice today and it doesn't look like snow is forcast for the coming week or so.

I'm sure you enjoyed Leighton's Christmas visit. It seemed he was able to spend mor e time there than in previous years.

I found out that my ISP has my internet address masked and that is why my web cam video was not able to be seen by Leighton. They don't really want web cams to be run thru their system. It uses too much bandwidth. So, I'll have to look for an alternative method.

Hope your new year is starting off good.

Happy Christmas Eve!

Well, we did wind up with a "white" Christmas. Not a "fresh" white Christmas, but a two day old one.

Today was definitely cold. I do not know exactly what the temperature was this morning, but it must have been "0" or below.

I had to make a quick trip to Santa Fe this morning (problems processing a large video file) and on the way back I took three snow picture scenes.

The first is of a bridge that, every time I pass it, I think: "I need to stop of try to get a good pic of it." Today, I tried.

The other two are scenes from the road on top of a hill heading into Taos. One shows (tries to show) the Rio Grande Gorge and the other the Mountain range on the north side of Taos. Taos is in the valley between the bushes in the foreground and the mountain in the background.

Somewhere I have an electronic Christmas greeting, which I'll try to find in the morning and send it.

Love, Glenn jr

This morning I was thinking that Christmas will come and go without any snow. But--- around 3 pm today -- it started snowing. The weateher forecast is for snow tonight and tomorrow. So, we may have a white christmas yet.

This is the first place I've recognized what it looks like when it is snowing. In Texas, we are accoustomed to seeing rain fall in the distance. Here, you can see snow fall in the distance -- once you know what it looks like.

I've tried to take a picture of it falling near here - towards the mountain, but the autofocus on the camera doesn't know what to focus on, so it is somewhat difficult to do - with an automatic focusing camera. Glenn

Remember the walnuts and almonds you gave me while I was there in September? This morning I finished the jar of walnuts. I'v been chopping them up, three or four at a time, to go in oatmeal.N0w I'll tackle the almonds(they fill a peanut butter jar). I hadn't realized how much harder it is to chop an almond than a walnut.

Thursday morning (Dec 16):

    Good Morning.

Today at lunch, afriend was telling abouta past incident in her life and she said "it happened, maybe, 15 years ago."

    And I said "Oh,something recent!"

The humor in that off hand quip, hit homewith me. We've lived so long (a group of close friends) that most of thestories we tell others have happended so many years ago that we no longer(sometimes purposefully) identify the year(s) in which they occured.

In that context(to me), and at thatmoment,I could see 15 years as a "recent" event.

But the real humor (insite), to that response, which captured my imagination was: We've lived long enough that a whole newworld of humorous insites into life and our experiences is now open to us.

Yesterday I readthat it was only 10 daysto Christmas! How can that be? It just became December!

Its funny howthe first notice callingattention to how few the number of days are untilChristmas wipes out thevague sense that Christmas is coming, someday.

I've already agreed to baby sit a condoduring the days surrounding New Years Eve. I've foundthat it is more enjoyable(meaning: bearable) to use the condo's laundry facilities than the commercialones. Ahhh. Only 14 days left until I can do my laundry! For some reason, that doesn't seem to have the same "not much time left" effect as "Only 10more days until Christmas!"

The ski area here is open, but it's hardto believe that winter is here. It's not really cold. No Snow. And no gloomydays.

Here's to another pleasant, sunny, day.

    Tuesay morning (Dec 14):

Not much happening here. The weatheris very pleasant. I spent the entire day yesterday at the computer editingthe annual Christmas Concert put on by the Taos Community Chorus. They arethe once who did the concert and the Christmas caroling in the video youlookedat last winter. It's pretty much done and I'll deliver a copy to theTCC Directorthis morning.

Today I workonthe video I shot ofthehigh school hocky teams's game last Saturday night.Hope to have it donebybedtime. Of course bedtime, lately, can be any wherefrom 1 to 3 in themorning.

      Friday morning (Dec 10):
        Good Morning!Again.

I discoveredwhy you could not seethe top part of this page: I had not coded that portionof the page correctly.

You should be able to see it now.The video seems to be working. The "chat" idea (canwrite messages to eachother as the video plays) is working yet. Haven't solvedthat problem.

Finished editing the concert and willdeliver it to the tv station today.

Am now editing last Saturday's highschool hockey game. Hope to finish it by bedtime.

The weatheris cool, but nice. Nosnow predicted until next week.

Hope you have a good day.

        Glenn jr

        Wednesday morning (Dec 8):

Today I'llstart on a "hockey" videowhich I shot last Saturday night. Hope to get itdone before bedtime.

          Hope alliswell.

          Friday evening:

I've addedalink (above) to a web page which should broadcast a live picture from withinmy office. It is working tonight anyway. Hopefully it will continue to anytimeI have the computer on (that is is connected to). It's my intention to leaveit on whenever I'm in. I'm usally in the office at around 6 to 6:30 am to9-9:30 (NM time) weekdays. Sat and Sun varies.

If I'min the office - andwithinthe area that the camera sees, you should be ableto see me move around.Or,just sitting and appearing to be staring at thecompter. Actually, I'llprobablybe editing video. The compter tht yuou seein the corner to yourright, isthe primary one used for video editing.

I'll probablymove the camera from time to time to show a different area of the room.

I won't be able to know youareonline and watching with this old progam, but I'llbe looking for a betterone.

Saturday will be a full day.Thereis an event which I will shoot at 10-12, one from 12 to 3, anotherfrom 5to6:30pm and another (in a town 20 miles from here, at 7-8pm. Itwill bea longday.

Hope all is well. Glenn jr.

Thursday:Finally took a pictureof the snow covered mountain for you to see - but - its two days too late. The look of a snow covered mountain has melted away.

Any way. The picture (witha snowcapped mountain) is below.

It haswarned up here, althoughstill cold at night. This weekend will be busy. Multiple events are happeningFriday and Sat. Some running at the same time as others.

          Glennjr.

It's Tuesday and it snowed all morning - again - with wind. Last winter,we had wind and snow once and that was at the end of the season (March, maybe).

I wanted to take a picture of themountain, but forgot. Hopefully, I'll remember tomorrow.

Cottonwood tress were planted alongsomeof the old major streets (about 80 years ago). They are huge. Many oftheirbranches are bigger than most of the tree trunks at the old house.

Unfortunately, old age is gettingtosomeof them. Enclosed below is a pic of one which fellacross a majorroadlastsummer.
