May 16 BAMM Books-A-Million, Inc. Reports Comparable Store Sales Increase of 6.2%

(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2000-- Books-A-Million, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM:BAMM) today announced financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended January 29, 2000. Net sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 increased 18.4% to $137.9 million from $116.5 million in the year-earlier period. Comparable store sales for the quarter increased 9.8%. Earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation for the fourth quarter increased 3.9% to $15.1 million from $14.5 million in the year-earlier period. Net income for the final three months of fiscal 2000 was $6.5 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, compared with $6.5 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, in the year-earlier period.
