Listen to Me

Words/Music © by Deborah Baudoin

I came as an innocent--sheltered Lennier.
From temple she called me to live with her here
In this place where the boundaries and lines disappear -
Now the veil has been lifted I fear.

In the battle to come she must fight on her own,
And though I do my best still I know she's alone
As the Shadows draw nearer and closer to home -
If I spoke, would she listen to me?

Look at me - I may not be the proudest,
Can't you see that my heart is still pure?
Listen to me - I may not be the loudest, I know,
But my voice is still honest and sure!
Listen to me.

They thought me a simpleton--ignorant Vir.
They sent me away hoping I'd disappear!
But the small voice of reason is terribly clear -
In the din of this madness you'll hear!

Though his eyes may be closed he can't hide them for long.
And though I may be silent, I know he was wrong
to trade honor for power. No matter how strong
He becomes, he will never be free.

Look at me - I may not be the proudest,
Can't you see that my heart is still pure?
Listen to me - I may not be the loudest, I know,
But the voice of the truth will endure!

In the chilling of Shadow, the blinding of Light,
When the night turns to day, and the day turns to night,
Would it make any difference to say I was right,
Any difference at all in the fight?

Look at me - I may not be the proudest,
Can't you see that my heart is still pure?
Listen to me - I may not be the loudest, I know,
But my voice is still honest and sure!
Listen to me.
