Adrift In Time

I have looked into our future,
Seen what each of us might be.
Time summons us forth and we follow.

Our decisions have shaped us
As we drift upon the waves.
Our lives are adrift on the sea.

Why is it what's most important in life
Gets jostled and lost in the fray?
If I tell you tonight of the way that I feel
Will it change time forever
Or just change today?

It's so hard to comprehend it -
Now I understand, I can see
As ripples and tides smooth the beaches.

My illusions have been shattered.
When I look at you I know
Our time is adrift in the sea.

Why is it what's most important in life
Gets jostled and lost in the fray?
If I tell you tonight of the way that I feel
Will it change time forever
Or just change today?

Time is only moments.... I know this, I've traveled here before.

I've seen a bitter future
I've mourned what still might be,
But destiny's brought us together.

I have lived life without you once,
I have sailed this sea alone
When our love was adrift on the sea.

Why is it what's most important in life
Gets jostled and lost in the fray?
If I tell you tonight of the way that I feel
Will it change time forever
Or just change today?
