Shaynie Aero has devoted her life to helping animals. She founded Animal Commandos, her own animal protection organization, in 1997. Shaynie also serves as co-director of Last Chance for Animals Arizona. She and her family always had at least three dogs at one time and they have rescued and sheltered scores of cats and kittens.

Shaynie was model and spokesperson for beauty without cruelty cosmetics in England and Los Angeles. In England Shaynie was under the wing of Lady Muriel Dowding and her son. Lady Dowding was the widow of Air Chief Marshall Dowding hero of the Battle of Britain. Shaynie was Chairperson of the Animal Task Force. She was appointed by Baxter Ward of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Shaynie Aero has written and published poetry to help animals. Her poetry is available at www.poetry.com. Shaynie was given a very special letter to the editor award by PETA for effectively getting letters on animal issues to the editor in local and national newspapers. She received another award from In Defense of Animals in appreciation of her work for animal welfare.

Shaynie couldn’t resist the little stray cat who was given to her by Peter Falk. They named him “Mr. Columbo” and he did, indeed, find the perfect home. Shaynie landed a part on ‘Dallas,’ thanks to some stray cats that she was feeding on the MGM parking lot. That’s how she met Larry Hagman, an animal lover himself. After Hollywood, Shaynie lived in Europe for a number of years, and worked for the British Union for Abolition of Vivisection. The adventures she had in England and Italy could fill a long novel. Have you heard the saying, “When in Rome?” In Rome, there are literally hundreds of stray cats in the coliseum who are lovingly fed by the Italians. Shaynie did the same thing for the duration of her time in Rome.
