THE BIBLE

NOTE: The words contained in the Bible did NOT come by the will of man, but holy man of God "spake as SPIRIT gave them utterance", this WORD of GOD as originally given, in the BIBLE is REVELATION.    Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 - is - REVELATION.
It is NOT for any PRIVATE INTERPRETATION.

1 John 4:18 BIBLE - KJV There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 BIBLE - KJV                                                 2 Timothy 1:7 BIBLE - KJV For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 BIBLE - KJV

QUESTION:

Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
..........See this scripture is pretty powerful.......
after Thomas says my Lord and my God...........
the Lord says you believe because you see.............
blessed are those who BELIEVE and not seen.
John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger,
and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust
it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

ANSWER:

Jesus very carefully explains who HE is and who GOD is.
Jesus does NOT lie, his words are coming from God, by revelation. Jesus goes into minute detail, so we may understand and be not like the Sadducees and Pharisees, but as His disciplined followers, His disciples did. Man may lie, may not understand, may with heart of stone, refuse to believe God's word. Meek man accept the word, because they search the scriptures and see whether those things are so, comparing SPIRITUAL with SPIRITUAL. God of our Lord Jesus Christ inspired holy man who wrote the scriptures.

Jesus says GOD IS SPIRIT and
SPIRIT HAS NO FLESH AND
BONES AS YOU SEE ME HAVE
.
This is what JESUS said.
Should we believe what JESUS says?
YES! Absolutely, surely, YES!!
Of course, as believers in Christ Jesus, as His followers, FIRST and foremost believe what he teaches us and believe Him.
One may ask...
Why not to rely on the words and the momentarily exclamation of doubting Thomas? Why Jesus did not correct Thomas on the spot?
I do not know why Jesus did not correct Thomas on the spot when doubting Thomas said something contrary to what Jesus taught... and the BIBLE is not explaining why.
One day facing Jesus, YOU and I may ask Jesus about it, but in
the meantime, it is NOT wise to put words and make the answer for Jesus. For someone to say something that is NOT WRITTEN and what Jesus did NOT SAY is PRIVATE INTERPRETATION. Word of GOD does NOT allow it. We MUST obey the WORD of GOD to retain the TRUTH God intended us to have.

Thomas was in UNBELIEF till he did "test".....
Unbelief is devastating to people in Jesus' time.
Unbelief is a sin. Thomas was one who was sooooo out there in
Unbelief He did not believe because he knew experientially that Jesus is dead. He was sure all is over with Jesus of Nazareth.

Thomas has the opportunity to see JESUS again... it is some time after GOD raised Jesus from dead. Even when Thomas sees Jesus, he did not believe it is JESUS, and he finally has opportunity to place his my finger in already Jesus' healed wound.... The discussion there in Thomas' mind is NOT about whether Thomas believes JESUS is GOD or not. The issue about Thomas' believing is whether JESUS is JESUS, the man Jesus he knew before he was buried.

Is this JESUS the MAN I know was buried, and is dead????
That is the question in Thomas' mind. He did not believe till his finger goes into the healed flesh, where the wound he saw was... he wanted be sure this man he sees now, is not some kind of imposter. Some another Jesus impersonating Jesus from Nazareth.
(And Mohammedans today say exactly that - "God would not allow his prophet Jesus to be killed... it was imposter killed" - same line of thinking.)

For one examining what happened and how the scripture writes about it (God is the author of scripture as it was originally given.) One can see that to RELY on what JESUS said will issue in TRUTH and to rely what unbelieving Thomas says will issue in ERROR. The contrast between HOW Jesus explains GOD and himself is HUGE. It actually goes in completely opposite direction. WHOM SHALL I BELIEVE?
I choose Jesus Christ.

BELIEVE JESUS, NOT DOUBTING THOMAS.

(Many times when someone drops a hammer on their foot screams some obscenities or just "OH MY GOD" it does not make the hammer GOD... I do not know how THOMAS meant his exclamation of surprise that was against what he believed till he put his finger in Jesus' wound, but the healed wound changed his mind to a point that JESUS is not an imposter. It is JESUS who was dead and now lives. And.. even THOMAS surely did not believe GOD can die, because even the doubting THOMAS knew that GOD ALMIGHTY can NOT DIE, God is not born, can't die, because GOD is NOT a man. Believing that GOD is a man and that God could die would be just foolish and unsound mind even for THOMAS.)

GOD is invisible (to the physical eye) we may "see" God only with spiritual eyes.:

Colossians 1:15  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

1 Timothy 1:17  Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

1 John 4:20  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

1 John 4:12  No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

John 1:18  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST,
who is the only begotten SON of GOD , to whom GOD gave ALL POWER and ALL authority...
Jesus said:

Matthew 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Philippians 2:9-11
9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

John 10:35-37
35  If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36  Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
37  If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.

1 Timothy 2:5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Acts 2:22  Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

John 13:31  Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

John 9:31-33
31  Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32  Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33  If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.

John 8:40  But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

John 6:27-29
27  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
28  Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29  Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

John 3:2  The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Luke 22:69  Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

Luke 12:8  Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

Luke 2:51-52
51  And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52  And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

I believe that the QUESTION on what THOMAS said, and why, is clearly shown here. The Bible verses supporting what Jesus taught his disciplined followers must be sufficient to see the TRUTH as presented by Jesus Christ. Relying only on CHRIST and HIS doctrine is the policy to obtain TRUTH and to stay away from ERROR in doctrine and teaching.

Bible is always teaching TRUTH, world is slow in catching up... very slow...
