THUGS win 6-2 in Preseason Opener.
|
Defense was the order of the day as the Thugs defense stepped up to carry an offense that had problems in the red zone and register a 6-2 victory Sunday afternoon.
Lead by a defensive line featuring free agent acquisitions Davis and Winsberg the Thugs hurried the Big Dogs quarterback all game long recording 4 sacks, forcing several hurries and 4 interceptions in route to a complete domination of the Big Dogs.
The offense moved the ball well all afternoon with a suprising performance by Winsberg who hauled in 5 passes, including a big 4th down conversion. The offense faultered inside the 20 yard line and provided just enough pop with QB Steve Fineman connecting on a 17 yard fade pattern to WR Joshua Freeman for the only TD in the game, with 15 seconds remaining. Freeman had 6 catches, and 3 INT's on the day. LB Craig Mordoch also recorded his first career INT on a fine play in the 2nd half to stop a Big Dog drive.
The Thugs next test is not yet scheduled, as they may have one more preseason game before the season opener on September 28th. A few scattered tickets are still available for the Season Home Opener.
