T2 Termintated:
Thugs win 12-6

It began a little less than a year ago. The underdog Thugs knocked T-1 Med out of the playoffs with a stunning 30-26 victory. Spending the entire offseason with that on their mind, T-2 Judgment Day was focused for the season opener as it offered them a chance for the sweetest dish, revenge.

Unfortunately for T-2, deja vu was the order of the day as the Thugs defense completly stifled the T-2 offense lead by former Princeton QB Winston Callister, and Med-killer Matt Milone helped the offense muster enough of an effort to lead the Thugs to a 12-6 victory.

Things began well for T-2 as the took the opening drive the length of the field for a TD and 6 point lead. On the ensuing possession, the Thugs offense stalled, and a shoddy punt by Freeman gave T-2 great field position to add to their lead. Inspired defensive play by Scott Galante, later named game MVP, gave the ball back to the Thugs on downs as the half wound down.

Then the LSD kicked in as T-2 suffered some serious flashbacks. Fineman connected with Freeman for a long gain inside the T-2 20 yard line with under 1 minute to go. After 2 plays went nowhere, the Thugs went into their bag of tricks and pulled out the number that sent T-1 home last season, fake slant to Freeman and looping Center Matt Milone out into the flats. The defense was fooled long enough for Milone to get behind the defenders and QB Fineman delivered the goods, as Milone made the catch in traffic as the half expired tieing the game.

The second half belonged to the Thugs defense, particularly free agent defensive linemen Joel Davis and Alex Winsberg. The tandem harrassed T-2 QB all half long, and played critical roles in the two deciding plays. First, with T-2 on the Thugs 10 yard line, the pair forced an across-body on-the-run throw that was picked off and returned the length of the field by S Joshua Freeman for what turned out to be the deciding score. Second, on 4th and long, Winsberg stomped out T-2's last flame of hope by making a spectacular diving sack.

The Thugs then were able to run out the clock as QB Steve Fineman called his own number and got the yards on a 12 yard bootleg that sealed the deal. When the dust had lifted, T-2 once again was on the losing end of a well played ball game. The season is still young and T-2 will not have time to dwell on this lost like last seasons, but the for the Thugs it speaks well about this teams chances this season.

The Thugs next game is a week from Monday.
